The Cure Reschedules North American Tour The Cure has rescheduled its fall North American tour for next spring and has added several new cities to the routing. The trek, which was recently postponed to give the band more time to finish its next album, will begin May 9 in Fairfax, Va., and will wrap June 20 at New York's Madison Square Garden. Along the way, the Cure will visit Kansas City, Mo., Phoenix, Austin, Texas, Ft. Lauderdale, Fla., and Cleveland, which were not on the original itinerary. In addition, because Seattle's Key Arena was not available, the band will instead close the 2008 Sasquatch! Music Festival on May 25 in George, Wash. "It's all happening slightly later than we expected due to the 'the playoffs' -- a lot of the venues we needed wouldn't let us confirm dates in the March/April period -- but we understand they all have to live in hope," the band writes on its Web site. The Cure's as-yet-untitled new album, which may be a double-disc set, is expected in April or May via Suretone/Geffen. Despite the earlier postponements, the band will still play the Download Festival in San Francisco on Oct. 6, the MTV Latin Music Awards on Oct. 18 and three shows in Mexico City on Oct. 20-22. Here are the Cure's tour dates: May 9: Fairfax, Va. (Patriot Center) May 10: Philadelphia (Wachovia Spectrum) May 12: Boston (Agganis Arena) May 14: Montreal (Bell Centre) May 15: Toronto (Air Canada Centre) May 17: Chicago (Allstate Arena) May 19: Kansas City, Mo. (Starlight Theatre) May 21: Morrison, Colo. (Red Rocks) May 23: Salt Lake City (E Center) May 25: George, Wash. (Sasquatch! Music Festival) May 26: Vancouver (GM Place) May 29: Santa Barbara, Calif. (Santa Barbara Bowl) May 31: Los Angeles (Hollywood Bowl) June 1: San Diego (Cox Arena) June 4: Phoenix (Dodge Theatre) June 6: Dallas (American Airlines Center) June 8: Austin (Austin Music Hall) June 9: Houston (Toyota Center) June 11: Tampa, Fla. (St. Pete Times Forum) June 13: Ft. Lauderdale, Fla. (Bank Atlantic Center) June 15: Atlanta (Gwinnett Center) June 16: Charlotte, N.C. (Bobcats Arena) June 18: Cleveland (TBA) June 20: New York (Madison Square Garden)

Foo Fighters assemble US trek behind new album
Refugee posted a topic in Anything That's Rock N Roll
US tour dates are starting to roll in for the Foo Fighters, who have a new album ready to hit the streets this month. The alt-rockers' next gig is this Saturday (9/15) at Carson, CA's KROQ LA Invasion, after which they'll move onto New York City, New Orleans, Atlanta and Atlantic City through early October. More US shows are expected to be announced shortly, according to a press release. Confirmed gigs are listed below. The Foo Fighters also have a UK arena tour booked in November. That 9-show run, which is detailed at the band's website, wraps Nov. 18 following a two-night stand at London's O2 arena. The Grammy-winning group's sixth studio release, "Echoes, Silence, Patience and Grace," is due Sept. 25. The set marks the first time the Foos have worked with producer Gil Norton since 1997's double-platinum seller "The Colour and the Shape," which was recently remastered and reissued as a 10th anniversary deluxe edition with six bonus tracks. The new album's lead single, "The Pretender," premiered on ESPN last month and was featured throughout the network's coverage of the Summer X-Games. The song is streaming at the Foo Fighters' MySpace page. "Echoes" follows the band's 2005 double-album, "In Your Honor," which comprises a disc of aggressive hard rock and one of more delicate acoustic tracks. That platinum-selling set spawned the No. 1 mainstream- and modern-rock hit "Best of You." and led to the band's biggest-selling tour to date, according to a press release. Last year, the Foo Fighters staged an intimate theater tour to showcase material from the quieter side of "In Your Honor." That trek was documented on the live CD and DVD sets "Skin and Bones," which surfaced in November. Veteran musician Annie Lennox has mapped a North American tour that will support her forthcoming album, "Songs of Mass Destruction." The outing launches on the West Coast in early October and will touch down at theater-sized venues in 15 cities by the time it wraps up Nov. 11 in Boston. The itinerary is included below. Six days before her tour's Oct. 8 kick off, Lennox issues "Songs of Mass Destruction," her follow-up to 2003's "Bare." The singer recorded the set in London, Los Angeles and Miami with super-producer Glen Ballard. "I feel closer to my own cutting edge than before and my voice seems to be in its prime," Lennox said in a press release. Lennox, who rose to fame as one half of the '80s duo The Eurythmics, issued her solo debut, "Diva," in 1992. Since then, she has sold over 78 million records worldwide, according to a press release. In 2004, Lennox won in the Best Original Song category at both the Academy Awards and Golden Globe awards for "Into the West," a cut she co-wrote and performed for the motion picture "Lord of the Rings: The Return of the King."
