Self Esteem - The Offspring
-
The best thing about where I live is that it's very quiet.Amen! The only way I can hear anything in my bedroom at night is if my dog starts barking, someone presses on their gas too hard, or if there are sirens.
Although, in the warmer months, I like to have the air conditioner on or set to fan because I like the sound of it.

Being around my family. (In the summer mostly, because of my grandparents) but there isn't really anything holding me here. I would like to live somewhere else, but I do like it here because it's familiar to me. I would like to live somewhere rainy or somewhere sunny all year. I'm on Ohio, so it's always very cold in the winter and very hot in the summer.
I live in the middle of a 200 acre crop farm, so we have lots of stars. I love being able to see the stars at night. I would love to go somewhere like the desert or Alaska where I could see lots of stars.
I'm a nerd. Stars make me sad because they're so beautiful and they put life in to perspective. Instead of feeling sad that you are so minimal, it's nice to feel that at least you are here and able to enjoy the beauty of the stars! -
What a great picture!

No. I'm more of an April Fool's Day person,
Mwahaha. -
Welcome Mike!
Sounds exciting! Thanks for the information.
I hardly pop on tompetty.com anymore.
The forums aren't even loading for me. They're all jumbled up and glitchy.
Thanks for the news! I hope there's "something good coming" in the near future!

WidflowerNJ I am so jealous of you! Beautiful!!
I absolutely love museums. Forget theme parks, I want to walk around and learn all day!
Just one of my dreams is to go to a bunch of major museums, like the Smithsonian, etc.
The last time I went to a museum was a small one in Ocala, Florida. Appleton? Applegate? Museum of Art, or something? I can't quite remember. It was December of 2011. They had an exhibit of Katharine Hepburn's clothes from various films she was in throughout her career. That was interesting, along with the rest of the the art on display there.
There is a great Art Institute about five minutes from where I go to college, and I have been there before, but it's been a long time. I would love to go again. There is also a great Air Force museum down the road about ten minutes from where I go to school, and would love to do that again too, since it's been such a long time.

I like that song too.

It is, Jay.

I saw that baby Clydesdale on Facebook, and then I saw one Dodge one about Farmers that wasn't funny, but was really good.
Those were the only two commercials I have seen in weeks.
haha. -
It comes on Thursdays at 10PM-EST on CBS before the news and after Person of Interest, I think? I'm not sure what comes on before it. I usually watch it online after it airs on CBS.com/shows/elementary
It's an updated version of Sherlock Holmes with Jonny Lee Miller, a brilliant English actor, playing him. It's an American version, so there is more sex and drugs than most Sherlock Holmes we are used to; but the original Sherlock was not too far off. He did drugs and things.
I recommend BBC's show "Sherlock" as well. It is also an updated version, but not as edgy, and there are only six 90 minute films released as a series so far (there will be a season three).
Whereas, Elementary will have 24 one hour (43 minute) episodes for it's first season.
I think, as far as I know, it was renewed for a second season.
The first few episodes of Elementary, in my opinion, were poorly written, but it gets better after that. I really think it's the best show on in America--especially for a regular network station, rather than something like Showtime, AMC, or HBO. I'm a British TV fanatic mostly.
I admin a Elementary fan page on Facebook, and I'm a Jonny Lee Miller fangirl. He's just awesome, I think.
I hope you get to see it and like it!These Sherlock shows are much better if you have a partial working knowledge of Conan Doyle's books, but they're amazing to enjoy either way. BBC's Sherlock is a much better show, but I love both shows equally for many different reasons. They are two completely different creatures, and I am very happy about that.

That's my goal! ^

I was at work, and had no intention of watching anyway, because I'm not a fan of either team or of Beyonce...
But, I watched "Elementary" afterward! It was great!
I love that show. Best USA tv show if you ask me.
I'm glad they got the after superbowl spot. They deserve it.
It usually airs on Thursday nights, so it was nice to get three episodes in 7 days!
Go team Sherlock!

I didn't post on here yesterday, but Happy Birthday Mike!!
This is a digital drawing I did of/for him for his birthday.

I posted it on Rock the Dog's Facebook page on the 1st.
Keep on Rockin' for years to come, Mike!

I thought it would be neat to do in all black and white except for the pretty blue guitar.

I put "who cares" because I just don't get it...
If he sees his shadow, that should mean that it's sunny and warm and should be spring sooner, instead of him hiding because he's afraid of his shadow? Rather than if it's cloudy and he comes out to play, that it's going to be an early spring.
I think it's a bunch of bologna. Haha. Cute little guy though.

Can you buy it on DVD or Blu-ray? I don't want to download it.I think it comes out on DVD in March, Sings.
It was going to take over a day to download it for me, but you can stream it online as well like a youtube video if you've paid for it.
I started watching it, but I stopped about ten minute in to get other things done.
I might watch it soon if I get time, but I'll probably wait and buy it on DVD too.

Last month or so... I've been on vacation and have been busy with school.
I love to cook, especially soup, but I haven't done lately.
-
Thank you very much!!
I've been having a good day. Slept in, went out to eat, etc. Now I'm listening to a Shakespeare play, As You Like It, for homework.

Well, thank you! Isn't that something!
My grandparents have always spoken very fondly of the Americans they met that came here to help liberate (that's how it was called, and it's probably the most accurate term) the country. According to them, they must have been really kind to the Germans. Which is supported by the story of your grandfather. My grandpa was in a camp for prisoners of war in Nürnberg and liked the captain there a lot who, on Christmas, let the prisoners visit friends or relatives. Which some took advantage of and never came back to the camp; my grandpa did, though. And my parents told me how they got their first chewing gum from American soldiers. When their military vehicles rolled through our hometown, little kids (e.g. my parents) ran alongside and begged for gum, which they got.
Today, Germany as a country really isn't bad. Thanks to how it all worked out with England, France and the U.S.A. and the European Union and all that. But, getting back to topic
, what appeals to me in context with the rebel flag is this spirit... not letting anyone tell you how to live. It's something that shows in Petty's carreer, if you think of the lawsuit against MCA, and also in the carreers of other artists that are not from the South. But maybe it's a bit of a Southern thing. If that's one of the reasons (among with heritage) why he used the flag on the Southern Accents tour, it's understandable. And fitting. Thanks for your story! I love hearing things like this.

Yes, I have some Pearls gathering dust in the other room... I'm horrible at them lol
-
Thank you for bringing in your flag!^
So many people think that Germany was BAD but it wasn't the Germans, it was the Nazi's. The German people are just as good as everyone else, but the fact is they were so oppressed and given no other option really than to stand with Hitler.
It is really sad. My grandfather was in the American Army in Germany in 46, I think. He went into a pub with a hamsteak and asked the barmaid to cook it for him, by the time she figured out that he wanted to share it with everyone there, she was crying and the other men were thanking him because they hadn't seen actual meat in so long.
Another time, he helped an old woman tend garden. Neither of them understood each other, except for when he figured out she wanted one of his cigarettes. She couldn't have been more pleased.
It bothers me for people to think that the Jews were the only people truly hurt by the Nazi's but the oppression was so bad many Germans who weren't Jewish were treated the same way and sent to concentration camps for disobeying.
There's nothing wrong with flying the German flag and being a patriotic German! (It's the Swastika you have to worry about, haha!) My grandpa also says that it was the most beautiful country he has ever been to, and he's been around!

Bappy Hirthday Shianne (again)

Have a wonderful year.

Our business (a pizza place) was broken into on Christmas (eve or day?) when I was 8 or 9...
We were not open, thankfully, so no one was there.

Here's one I took in 2010 of Mike.
I think I took at least 150 pictures that turned out, about 50 that didn't.
Great show.
