Stan seemed to be a very strong personality. He and Tom were really close at one time. I am sure some of the problems stemed from Tom doing a lot of individual stuff that Stan felt left out of and the band evolved their music past the stuff they started out with. One of the reasons TPATH has been such a success is because they continue to grow and change over the years. I love their music today as much as the music they started playing. Sometimes people like to keep things the same. So it is my interpretation that the break off of Stan was based on these things and it caused a lot of hard feelings between Stan and Tom. I don't know that Stan can blame Tom for Howie...he was a grown man and made his own life choices. I don't know if you have ever had any experience with people with addiction problems or not, but when a man decides to self-destruct, there is really very little you can do to stop him. If he does blame Tom, he is off base and should not put it on Tom.

I like Swingin' too. But I actually like Echo a lot. I guess you really have to have felt those things once to get it and yes it is a very "down" song but very real, you know? It is deep.

I love marathons too. Watched the Honeymooners one time...sat there the whole weekend.
This week it is very, very cold and rainy in GA. Could use a good marathon right now. -
^Wow Ref!! What is it you do? Sounds very interesting.

I confess I am a little down today.

No, I never tried to do that to anyone. I went on a few. I married one of them. We have been married for 13 years. After we dated awhile, we discovered that we had double-dated in our late teens...we were with other people, lol!

1. You are ordering a pizza, what item is your first choice for a topping? Pepperoni
2. Which ingredient makes the best base for a homemade barbeque sauce: mustard, vinegar or ketchup? Vinegar, next best mustard. Can't stand sweet, ketchupy sauces.
3. Do you want to know the eleven herbs and spices used in Kentucky Fried Chicken? Sure, why not?
4. Take this quiz: Which condiment are you?
You Are Mayonnaise
You tend to be a very quiet, introverted person.
You're happy to sit back and let stronger personalities shine.
You value loyalty and harmony. You try to bring people together.
Your taste in food leans toward simple comfort foods.
You love holiday meals as well as old school favorites like mac and cheese.
You get along with mustard and ketchup personalities. You have an unlikely alliance with hot sauce personalities.
5. Of the condiments you currently have in your refrigerator, which of them would you say you have used the most in the last year? Probably hot sauce or buffalo sauce
6. After years of trying, you finally get the recipe for a favorite food dish you enjoy. When making it for the first time, you discover an ingredient that you hate. Would you still make the dish with that ingredient, or would you try it without? probably would never eat that dish again. The things I hate in food are because they gross me out. It isn't a taste issue really.

Well, he's in the rock and roll hall of fame as a heartbreaker. I see him as a heartbreaker. I also see a closeness between the guys that goes beyond the name. Maybe he's a little quieter than the others. He came to fill in and has stayed ~20 years. That speaks for itself.

Footlose is the movie I first became aware of him. I saw him in animal house, but didn't pay much attention to him since there were so many other heavy-hitters.

I love Walls. But I also adore Lucinda. Got a lot of her stuff too.

Yes, Marcie may have 5, but Mike's are bigger.

1. Have you broken any New Year resolutions yet? No, didn't make any
2. Have you ever broken any bones? Only toes....but several times. My mother used to call me "Grace" because I ran into everything in the room.
3. When was the last time someone broke your heart? Wow, it was probably back in the 90s sometime.
4. What is the most expensive item you have ever broken? Only maybe a dish or something. I don't usually break things. My uncle taught me how to take care of car when I started driving.
5. What phrase are you tired of hearing over and over again? "To make a long story short..." usually when that comes up, it is already too late.

I have some free tickets to the Dirty Knobs show on Feb 11, if anyone wants them. PM me your name and address.

And why is he wearing a Hyatt robe? Aren't they off tour? Did they have to stay in a hotel to pick up the pooch? I got this story and picture too from "Rock the Dogs", and wondered what he was wearing ...but didn't enlarge it to see the Hyatt label. I thought perhaps he was in a robe, but not a Hyatt robe.....thought maybe he was playing one of the 3 wisemen or something, lol!

Who are we kidding.....how can we choose among these songs? It's like trying to choose which child/sibling you love the most.....if I had to choose "In to the great wide open" simply because the video was so great.....ummmmm, Johnny Depp after all.....with Tom Petty....together....on a motorcycle. It don't get better than that!

Me either surfburn! I started woorking in a hospital lab in 1983...and it hasn't changed. I changed jobs and worked in different labs..always the same.

^Oh Conmae! I am sending out positive vibes for you and your baby! How exciting!

((Ref)), I feel your pain! I can't wait for retirement. I know I should not wish my life away, but damn it's hard working with people nowadays! Just let me do my job and leave me alone.
My gripe: I have a sucky sinus infection and the rain came down in buckets just as I was loading groceries into my car. It could have waited 5 minutes for crying out loud!

Also, you should add a "Living Will" where you specify who will make medical decisions for you should you not be able to and what procedures/processes you will allow them to put you through. Without one in place....you can automatically be put on life support...even if there is no hope of any sort of normal humanity left. Working in healthcare for many years, I have seen some really sad cases.

Southern Accents - being southern myself and all. Close second is Best of Everything/Dogs on the Run. I love this album! I agree that they could have left off the horns and the rebelettes!!! Rebels is much better when they just sing it and turn down the volume on the instruments where you can actually hear Tom. It is obvious that they were in a funk when making this album. The songs are great, the music wonderful, but the production/arrnagements....not so much.

1. For 2011, are you hoping to lose weight, gain weight or stay the same weight? Lose
2. Are you still worried about possible terror attacks? Yes, we have as much to fear from those in America as those outside.
3. Name the last performer you heard sing on television? Be truthful, did you sing along? Beach boys on PBS...and yes I did!
4. Take this quiz: What is your career personality? http://www.blogthings.com/idealcareerquiz/
5. Of the careers listeds, which is the most appealing to you? Said I was conventional -- I didn't like any of them.
6. Of the careers listed, which is the least appealing? All were very boring.

Did it yesterday when we got back home from our river place. Didn't take very long with my sweet husband assisting.

1) Going to a big party or stay at home? May go out to eat.
2) Will you be staying up late to watch the ball drop in Times Square? usually do
3) Will you make any New Year's resolutions? have in the past. But since now I am practically perfect (LOL!) I don't see the need. If you believe this, I have some swamp land to sell you.
4) Who do you think would make a good host for a Rockin' Out New Year's Eve?
Wouldn't Mike and Tom be cool! I would watch it then. Last time I watched it, I didn't recognize anyone on there and there wasn't any rock -- just rap and such.
5) Do you know the words to Auld Lang Syne? Unfortunately, I do. I think most of my generation does. We were tortured by our parents and made to watch the "big band" new year's eve shows back in the 60s and early 70s. They always played it and the old farts sang it and danced in their polyester pant suits....oh the horror!

A question about Stanley

Great article! We all grow up and change eventually. He has had a great life. I would love to have been in the room with all the folks he has worked with.
Also, I love Don Henley's albums and Stan should be very proud of his part in those.
