Absolutely!!

I beat the crowds and voted weeks ago.

You have to believe in something more powerful than yourself to guide you through it. Some use family and friends, some use a cause they believe in, some use the strength of a group of people or the love of a child or pet. Some people have faith in God or some other higher power for strength. Personally, I do believe in God and that faith has carried me through a lot of difficult times. I also have leaned on some special people in my life who were there when I needed them...I call them "God with skin on", which means to me that God worked through these people to bring relief to me. My grandmother told me once that God will not give you more than you can bear and that each difficulty is an opportunity for growth. I try to look for the lesson in every difficulty...sometimes it is harder than other times to find. But it does help me make peace with the problem and stay more positive.

When politicians are no longer allowed to make a career out of congress, and they have to accept the same job benefits the people of this country have (no retirement, no insurance, etc)....they may be able to concentrate on matters that affect the country. It is no accident that each member of congress comes out of the job much better off financially than when they go in.

I agree airports and the beach are great for people watching. I also love to sit at the park and watch folks. People watching is a very entertaining activity.

We never have trick or treaters in the boonies...but I did take some treats to my students. They seemed to enjoy it very much.

^Yes, we will all know for sure soon on that one Nurk! I still believe what I was told that is written in the Bible...no man will know the date and time ...or something like that.......

Unless we change the path we are on.....I am afraid the future may be grim. I would like to think we will have made great advances in medicine, where you can cure almost any disease (cancer, diabetes, MS, etc). I am still waiting for the "jetson" cars I was sure we would have by now, lol!

^Yes that was scary! When I was a kid, we used to watch "Shock it to Me", a show that had horror movies. When I was 9 or so, my brother and I stayed up late and watch the old version of Dracula. Scared the $#%@ out of me. I slept in my brothers floor next to his bed that night. Still do not like anything related to vampires. The Exorcist was another Oh #$%@ movie!

What an incredible experience! I have lived through hurricanes and it is not fun. Hang in there gals.....we are all relieved it has been no worse for you than this so far. I hope all gets back to normal soon.

When summer is here, I wish for winter. When winter is here, I wish for summer. Spring and Fall only last about a week here, so do not really count. Come on down to GA Nurk....winter still aches due to the humidity. Wet cold is painful. However, you do not wrinkle so much due to the humid air, lol!

^ OOOh Barb! that is wonderful news! You are so fortunate to have grandkids to love on......I do not have a preference really for anything in my house. I try not to become to attached to things. I had a great friend once who told me she had given her prize possession (a piece of jewelry inherited from her Mom) to her daughter because she wanted to be free of the burden of possessions. She taught me many things, one of which was not to value possessions above people. There isn't a thing in my house I could not do without.

Wow! This one really made me think. I have not attended a lot of birthday parties, I guess. I have not had a birthday party that I remember. Mom said I had one on an aircraft carrier once (my Dad was an officer on it). I really do not remember it though since I must have been 2 or 3 at the time.

Used to love them...not so much anymore. Can't stand to watch violence of any kind.

It would indeed be spectacular if farmer's win...any or all! At least we could all benefit from the fact that they will come back here and tell us all about it. If you can't experience it yourself...at least live vicariously through others.

Yes Beth, I second that thought....enjoy this day! We should really be grateful for each one, instead of dreading the sunrise. I plan to try and have an attitude of gratitude today!

Any of the tried and true bands/artists...TPATH, Lucinda, Jason Sinay etc. I would certainly buy an album by the Dirty Knobs without even looking at the contents.

Combo. I wash the pots and some other things by hand.

I don't know if my vote really matters in presidential elections, but I still do it. I especially vote for local and state elections since your vote REALLY counts there. I also like to turn over the guys in congress often.
