Mudcrutch @ Troubadour - Any Tom Petty Songs?
Dynabeat Tim replied to WreckMeBaby's topic in Mudcrutch
This thread is funny. But the more I read it, it reminds of the prince and the pauper !! It is bizarre that Tom is playing like they are this band that isn't TP&HB, and they want to be a bar band, when so many bar bands want to be able to do "concerts".....I'd love to trade with him for a day LOL, but anyway, this is a little bit like when Paul McCartney wanted to go back to doing little clubs around the time of Get Back, and the others shot the idea down. And he eventually did do it with the early Wings. But just imagine if around that time John and Paul had put the Quarrymen back together. I think its cool, that Tom is saying, the world didn't take to us the first time, but there was something about that combination of musicians that hit its own groove and I would like to expose that now, especially since we have a better chance of being accepted. I hope he's given that chance. On the other hand, that review made me think, It didn't work then, and its not working now. LOL. You have to give the guys credit, especially the other 2 who haven't had that "BIG" exposure. They must be under alot of pressure. Has anyone else notice how Tom seems to get some of his idea's from the beatles ? I mean with doing this sort of thing, like I had mentioned Paul wanting to do. And also performing "the last DJ" Cd as a complete show, like the beatles were going to do with "let It Be" ? I wish I could see these shows and I hope theres a DVD. Peace -
Mudcrutch @ Troubadour - Any Tom Petty Songs?
Dynabeat Tim replied to WreckMeBaby's topic in Mudcrutch
I can see a little of both points here. Would anyone want to see Mudcrutch, if Tom Petty and the guys never made it big ? But as a artist doesn't Tom deserve to have some "fun" with his career ? I think you should respect the artist's wish, especially since they have made it known this is not TP & the HB's, and save your requests for when you see them. Go to see Mudcrutch and enjoy the experience of the night. -
Hey maybe instead of looking for life on another planet, we should just look for a planet that has junk flying around it !! Soon there will be a Sanford and Son Space division !! Or what if someday, instead of burying people they shoot ya off in space and ya float around "in the heavens" for eternity ?

Dynabeat Tim replied to Dynabeat Tim's topic in Creative Corner
thanks for your comments. My brother and his wife were there, as were my niece and her husband. My daughter and the son of the bass player/ gtr player go together and they were both there. We did "mr.spaceman" for the son, cause he liked it as a boy. We did "96 tears and mustang sally" for my daughter. We did "photograph" for all the men and women serving our country, and we did "don't let the sun catch you crying" for my sister in law. We did "proud mary" for my neice. We also did " I don't know why I love you but I do" for my mother (who will be 82 this June ) We did "bottle of wine" for her friend who makes home made wine !! It was quite a night, and I forgot all my troubles while I was there !! LOL -
I seen braveheart, and although I enjoyed it, I wouldn't say it was a great movie. Lately (since January) the only thing I've watched other than kids show with my boys, are music dvd's/ vhs , and The adventures of Ozzie & Harriet....we got the 12 dvd set for christmas and have been watching an episode whenever we get the chance. It usually takes us 2 / 3 days to get through a movie, cause we are tired and we go to bed.

Dynabeat Tim's songlist for sat. night
Dynabeat Tim replied to Dynabeat Tim's topic in Creative Corner
We had a great first night, and people danced to every song. It was like a dream come true, we couldn't had asked for more. We ended up doing several songs that we had never done before, cause they were crowd requests. "little deuce coupe", "the loco-motion", "one night", "proud mary", "wipe out", "margaritaville", "for the good times".........Before we started the gtr player heard an older gentleman tell his wife "I have esp I , their first song is going to be Release Me " Well we had planned on opening with "pink cadillac" but just to make this ole guy wonder, I announce " We seem to have a compelling urge to start with "release me" , so thats what we did , and all the over 60 crowd packed the dance floor !! We got free drinks all night, but we also had a few shots bought for us. So it was quite an amazing night. It felt good, cause by the end of night all the guys in the group were still having a great time. I have been in bands before that by the end of the night ya wonder why you're even playing with these guys. Anyway this cute 30 something blonde bartender told the drummer that we were "f*ck*** awesome" which is always a good sign that people like you. The main man at this Moose club that we were at said that they haven't had the dance floor packed like this in a long time and that they would have us back. Like I said it was the most wonderful night !! Our next gig is in two weeks when we play about an hour away from where we live in a small town called Jonesville. We can't wait. I'm thinking about doing "yer so bad" by TP. Would people think that neat ? I've always liked that song and I think people would like it. In an unrelated note, this other site that I go to that is beatle/ british invasion oriented site, you can post your songs, well I sent them to my recording bands my space page, and the reviews of my 3 songs there have been very positve. One guy said my one song was the byrds reincarnated and another guy said he thought one song was a combination dylan / Tom Petty influenced !! I thought that was neat, cause thats what I was aiming at. Well gotta get back to work, building shelves for the wife and she is a real task master. peace -
Great I hope I can find this. He is an amazing drummer. I feel that the Dvd could've been so much more with his current view, I really wish he would've talked to the movie people, and made a guest appearance with the band at that florida concert !! Oh well, ya have to respect his wishes.

I wish you would've listed "Sandy". I love that tune, especially the Hollies version of it. I once was in love with a woman named Sandy, and she loved me too, but I was to dumb to follow my heart. Now everytime I hear that song, tears come to my eyes, and I think of her. "Hey Sandy ...... Oh love me tonight for I may never see you again, Hey Sandy girl , my my my baby "

I like the example of both Ringo Starr and Elvis. In the anthology series, Ringo talks about how when they became famous, all of sudden everyone wanted to know what they think. Here he was a 23 year old guy, and the world was asking questions that he knew nothing about, but he said he would reply and they would write it up. He said nobody cared for his opinion before he became famous. When Elvis was asked in 72 about other performers political views, he replied that he was just an entertainer. He didn't see anything wrong with other people speaking out, but it wasn't for him. Now I think everyone has a right to voice their opinion, when you have so much power, you have to be oh so very careful. Imagine if you swayed people one way, and it turned out to be the wrong way and people got hurt. Or even worse killed. Most famous people have no clue to the common mans plight, and it's so easy to say things that will not directly affect you.

It would be great to get a thread about Mike's and Tom's guitar collection !!
-
A few years back, a guy called Russ Wapinski, or something like that, was reported working on a book detailing all the LA sessions for the years 60-69 or something like that. He's using union contracts to show who played on what. I've talked to Carol Kaye through her site, and she says he is still working on it. Should be great, and huge, when it finally comes out.

viagra........(just joking !! ) When I can't sleep I'm usually thinking about bills, or bad things that have happened to me in my life and how I can correct them. Sometimes when I've been recording the thought of finishing the song keeps me awake. Sometimes I get a burst of energy about 10:30 at night and I can't sleep. I usually sleep from 11:30 to 5:00 am and work from 6 to 6 get home about 6:30. So usually by thurs I am beat.

Pictures from Beatles Fest 2008
Dynabeat Tim replied to WildflowerNJ's topic in Anything That's Rock N Roll
I've been to the chicago beatlefeast and met Donavon, Mike Evans of Badfinger, Billy J. Kramer, Mark Hudson, and loved it. I met lots of Beatle authors too, ones that I had bought their books, so that was neat too. Lots of fun. thanks for the pictures.
