  1. Now thats a review !! Its nice to hear from a "fan" and not someone who is on duty. Did Tom seem comfortable on bass ? Or was he looking at his hand/fingers ? Did it seem he could sing and play bass runs with ease ? I know some people always ask me that, and I don;t really think about it cause I've done it for so many years, but I was wondering if Tom had to get used to it again, since its been so long since he's had to do it live.

  2. My sons and I watch "jonny quest". I remember watching it with my dad, and then my daughter (s), my nephews, and then my daughter bought the dvd set for me and my 2 sons love it. We watch it almost everynight. We also watch "the monkees" and they both like that too. Oh and the beatle cartoons. They like that too.

  3. 1. When were you born ? July 31, 1955, but I don't remember it really !!

    2. favorite picture ? There are so many....One that my wife has on the fridge is of me and my sons taken last year on Memorial day. We're on a pier and lake erie is stretched out behind us. I look very happy in that one.

    3. longest run ? Not sure, I usually walk or jog at a med. pace.

    4. what is familiar ? family and friends, songs I play, memories

    5. what do you count on ? I was going to say fingers, but I see someone had already thought of that ( great minds think alike LOL ). So I will now say myself....and music, and my family.

  4. I have the coffee cup that my dad used, and a old matchbox car (59 ford wagon) that was like the one we had when I was a boy. Next to both is his obit from the paper. He died 18 years ago this month. I named my first son after him, and I wish that my dad could've met him. God, sometimes I think about him and I just cry cause I miss him so. It doesn't seem like 18 years has passed.

  5. whoopy cushion ? Oh how Grandma hated that toy !! Hey Ref did you have a Ken too ? I use to know a few girls that had Ken's too, and when I'd go over there, I was always Ken !!

How bout Buddy L.......I had several of those trucks.

And yes Nurk, I got those Beatle dolls back then too, still have them and my lunch box !!

  6. Lets all buy horses and buggy's and make the Amish people, the new sheiks of the world !! LOL Can you imagine ? Dad, can I borrow the horse tonight ?

No more DUI's , no more seat belts, no more.....just a family with a horse !!

And someone has a hit again with "the old grey mare " How important would the middle east be if we didn't need their oil ? I don't recall us having any trouble with them back in the early 1800's !! LOL

  7. When I was a boy I had a subscription to Rolling Stone. But as the years went on they started having less about music, and more political, and more movies, etc. than what I cared for. When you're buying what you thought was a "music" mag, and only part of it deals with music, its time to move on. Now I occasionally get MOJO from the UK. Only time I buy RS is if there is a feature on a group I like.

  8. Lets see country music.....classic or the stuff they call country now a days.

How old is your Dad ?

    Because if its country....

    Hank Sr. and Hank Jr.

Willie, Waylon, Kris, Merle Haggard, Johnny Horton, Earnest Tubb, Dave Dudley,

Ray Price, Mickey Gilley, Jerry Lee Lewis, Faron Young, Marty Robbins, Bobby Bare, Alabama, Buck Owens, Ronnie Milsap, Elvis, Charlie Rich, Johnny Cash,

George Strait, Conway Twitty, Loretta Lynn, Patsy Cline, so many that were really good "country" singers, before country became main stream. But on the other hand, true country never has become main stream. The stuff today, although recorded maybe a million times "better" recording wise, it has lost a lot of its "soul". And is about as close to country as Rap is to rock n roll. Pure country is an art form, the same way that the blues are, and early rock n roll.

Some of the "stars" today would be lost if they had to use the primitive equipment that they used back then. I once read where they recorded Reba on several muti tracks and then mixed it with the best take of each line using a pitch correction device. Rather or not thats true, whose to say. I've seen her before on TV singing live, but who knows if its pre recorded or not ?

Good luck in finding some tunes for him.

  9. Yea, I remember when I thought 35 was old ! I can also remember when a 30 yr old woman was an old lady LOL. My how time can change your perspective of things. Now a days I know a lot of Hot 50 year old girls !!

thanks for the post. I also read a review at a beatle site, from someone who attended the gig and they said it was fantastic and that the guys were having lots of fun. And Tom played a hofner club bass all night. It also listed the other guys gtr's but they escape me now.

  10. Hey did anyone else get this ? It came on once I came to the site this morning and I can't get rid of it. Its at the top of my screen and its IF (lisset($-COOKIE(mycounter') etc......I won't type the whole thing there is about 30 characters.

Does anyone know how I can get rid of it ? Its follows me everywhere.

Any advice would be helpful. Thanks

  11. We know that the UK has high prices. But how high do you think it will get when it stops the US lifestyle ? I still see tons of people going by me as I wait with kids at the bus stop, driving big SUV's , with only one person in the car. I know even at $3.00, it has stopped my extra driving. I went to gtr. center the other day, which is about 15 miles away for the first time in about 4 months the other day. Its just so far out of the way, I never get to that part of the town. Anybody else ?

  12. This thread is funny. But the more I read it, it reminds of the prince and the pauper !! It is bizarre that Tom is playing like they are this band that isn't TP&HB, and they want to be a bar band, when so many bar bands want to be able to do "concerts".....I'd love to trade with him for a day LOL, but anyway, this is a little bit like when Paul McCartney wanted to go back to doing little clubs around the time of Get Back, and the others shot the idea down. And he eventually did do it with the early Wings. But just imagine if around that time John and Paul had put the Quarrymen back together. I think its cool, that Tom is saying, the world didn't take to us the first time, but there was something about that combination of musicians that hit its own groove and I would like to expose that now, especially since we have a better chance of being accepted. I hope he's given that chance. On the other hand, that review made me think, It didn't work then, and its not working now. LOL. You have to give the guys credit, especially the other 2 who haven't had that "BIG" exposure. They must be under alot of pressure. Has anyone else notice how Tom seems to get some of his idea's from the beatles ? I mean with doing this sort of thing, like I had mentioned Paul wanting to do. And also performing "the last DJ" Cd as a complete show, like the beatles were going to do with "let It Be" ? I wish I could see these shows and I hope theres a DVD.

    Peace

  13. I can see a little of both points here. Would anyone want to see Mudcrutch, if Tom Petty and the guys never made it big ? But as a artist doesn't Tom deserve to have some "fun" with his career ? I think you should respect the artist's wish, especially since they have made it known this is not TP & the HB's, and save your requests for when you see them. Go to see Mudcrutch and enjoy the experience of the night.

  14. Hey maybe instead of looking for life on another planet, we should just look for a planet that has junk flying around it !! Soon there will be a Sanford and Son Space division !! Or what if someday, instead of burying people they shoot ya off in space and ya float around "in the heavens" for eternity ?

  15. thanks for your comments. My brother and his wife were there, as were my niece and her husband. My daughter and the son of the bass player/ gtr player go together and they were both there. We did "mr.spaceman" for the son, cause he liked it as a boy. We did "96 tears and mustang sally" for my daughter. We did "photograph" for all the men and women serving our country, and we did "don't let the sun catch you crying" for my sister in law.

We did "proud mary" for my neice. We also did " I don't know why I love you but I do" for my mother (who will be 82 this June ) We did "bottle of wine" for her friend who makes home made wine !! It was quite a night, and I forgot all my troubles while I was there !! LOL
