I got mine at best buy for 11.19, I haven't really had time to listen to it properly yet. I listened to hear what the other guys sound like singing, and thought benmont did good, and should've sung a tune here and there in their 30 yr history. On first listening, it reminds me of the byrds LP, sweethearts of the rodeo, and some flying burrito brothers, and maybe some later byrds things. Just listening to it, piece by piece, nothing jumped out at me like "last DJ" CD or "highway companion". I wish the deluxe version had been in the store, but it wasn't. I think they should've filed it under "tom petty" or at least put a few in that rack, to make it easier for some people to find. I know they're trying to make this a different thing, but then why advertise TP's catolog inside the Cd ? Anyway I want to listen to the mix and recording. On first listen the bass drum didn't seem quite as loud as in some of Tom's mixes. The packaging is very nice.

the cold of this April, tax season,gas prices, heating costs....and in May.....warmer weather hopefully, more gigs for the band, and hopefully I can get everything done that I need to do !!

I've started a thing the other night before going to bed...sort of a take off on Tom's buried treasure show ....I listen to a mix match kind of music but keep it to 3 to 8 songs.......last night......rocket 88, down the road a piece, sign of the times (pet clark), Lies (knickerbockers) Day Tripper , and then to bed !! Kind of makes me forget my troubles and so far I sleep better !!

We got another booking yesterday for this Friday in Toledo, Ohio !! If it goes well we are promised more gigs at this southside club !! So we will do the same set list as last week with a few additions and switch arounds. What was great is, they called us !!

This is beyond words.....how can any father or mother do this ? Another case where the authorities, are not doing their job. Was this girl never missed in school, or the community ? How could she have those kids and not have some type of medical help and care ? God help us all if this is what our world is coming to.

This gig went well too. We loaded all the equipment plus 3 band members inside my ford van. We had the PA system, 4 monitors, mic stands, drums, 4 amplifiers, keyboards, key. stand, lights, 8 guitars, various other accessories. It took us almost 2 hours to get there. I could only go about 45 MPH. The night went well, the Tom Petty song "yer So Bad" even had a few dancers. We did a real knock out version of "born to be wild". Plus we added "family tradition" & "long hair country boy" by requests that night. They want us back so I have to call them this week and get some further bookings. We stopped at Mcdonalds for some burgers after the gig, seen 8 deer on the return trip. (4 in downtown Hillsdale eating grass in front of a gas station). We split the gas cost, and it took less than 10 gallons. The place was 65 miles each way. I got home and in bed at 4 am. ( I had been up the day before from 5 am friday morning to 3am Sat. morn ). I had to get up at 9 am Sunday so the lack of sleep really affected my energy level on Sunday ! When I finally got to bed Sunday night I couldn't fall to sleep and ended up sleeping from 1:30 am to 5:10 this morning. Right now I am very tired. Our next gig is in 2 weeks, on May 10. But I am looking forward to going to bed tonight !!

Yes, I will buy this as soon as I get some free time on Tuesday !!

I use to use them more, had a big debt. Paid it off, and now I'm stuck with one. Once thats paid off, no more credit cards !!

Great article, but what about Mike and Benmont ? Aren't they "big names" too ? They are in my book . The way these articles read sometimes you'd think that Tom is the only famous person in the band, or the writer is not aware that these two have done things besides the heartbreakers . Mike is probably or at least one of, the greatest guitarist around. Look at all the famous people that Mike and Benmont have played with, plus the songs they have wrote for others.

I only hear a "live" band when I play somewhere, to busy to get out otherwise. I was working with a guy that used ear plugs, and he was always complaining the bass was to loud. When I told him to take out his plugs, everything was okay. Not working with him anymore.

The weekend is almost here X 3 !!

Whenever we have a party ( boys birthday, family get together ) We clean our house top to bottom ! I tell my wife that people know we have 2 little ones and they keep it pretty messed up, but she says a woman needs a clean house and gets depressed when its "dirty and messy". Oh well......

Many moons ago a woman that I love and who also loved me, moved to California, along with a piece of my heart. I was planning on joining her, but it never happened. I've often wonder what would've happen. So I guess I would pick California too.

When is it ? I watch very little T.V., but I do watch video's and DVDs.
