Wow, I never thought that by asking one question about this Cd, the amazing and sometimes personal feelings that have come out. I agree with Nurk, without music in my life, I don't know where Iwould be sometimes. (come to thinkof it,even with music I sometimes don't know where I'm at, LOL ). So sorry to hear about your BF, orange bunny, but I'm glad that this thread has let you share your thoughts. peace & love to all my fellow farmers !!

interesting. I liked 'to good to be true' cause it sort of sounds like garage rock to me. -

Great comments. I noticed when I listened to it, that "Into the great wide open" almost has the same sound (drums and guitar) as the beatles "free as a bird" Did anyone think that when they first heard the beatle song ? I know Jeff produced both, but I never realized how close the sound ( not the melody ) was. -
never thought of that !! LOL

Ok, I've been doing alot of driving lately, so I've been listening to TP alot. Any thoughts on this CD ? What did you think when it first came out ? I personally think it starts off really strong and the first 3 songs are all quite good. I think Mike's slide work here on this Cd really sounds alot like George Harrison's. I think this Cd has some amazing melodies and the production is very full. I understand now that some of the heartbrekers weren't to thrilled by it, or at least the way it was recorded. I like "makin some noise", "to good to be true" "built to last" "two gunslingers" ( I really like the chorus, 'I'm taking control of my life' ) So many really good songs, that this would be in my top 5 petty Cd's. But what does the long time fan say ?

Thanks for all the great comments and discussions. Its a nice way of connecting to the people who visit the farm. I wonder if anyone who doesn't have this Cd, has gone out and purchased it because of the comments.

Well last Friday went very well. We had more dancers and the crowd was bigger than ever before. Now the next Friday our regular guy is back. It was hot and muggy out and I didn't think people would be in the mood, but they surprised me and dance from the first number to the last !! Go figure.

Well I went to my first appt. Wept some, but I have my first assignment. It was nice sharing events to a stranger and then showing documents for proof. It's going to take some time to get this ( my life ) back in order, but I feel I took the first step on about a 1,000 step staircase !! The cool thing is, I'm no longer just looking at the staircase.

Amazing comments !! When I first heard Free Girl, I thought how much the theme and tone of the song reminded me of "under my thumb" and "stupid girl" by the rolling stones. Knowing what you thought of how Howie looked, were any of you surprised of his death ? Did anyone wonder why he wasn;t on the cover ? I mean if I got a beatle LP with Ringo missing, I'd want to know. And actually on the beachboys "summer days and summer nights" Al Jardine is missing and there's an explanation on the back of the Lp why he missed the cover shot. I like "room at the top" probably the best from that CD.

Tonight we have a friend sitting in on bass guitar. Our other member has a wedding to attend. Anyway we are doing some old country songs from the '70's plus some Dion numbers ( wanderer and ruby baby) !! Hot and muggy here though, so I'm not sure what the crowd will be like. Also doing some Carl Perkins and Elvis songs, along with CCR !!

Great comments. Did anyone know about Howie and his problems at the time ?

I was listening to the "echo" CD this week, and I was thinking about the things that I read about it. How Tom had just finished his divorce, and the trouble with Howie, etc. And I was wondering what you (the longtime TP fan ) thought of the CD when it came out. When I bought it was within the past 2 years, and I think if he had came out with it now, I would wonder what happened. Now I like the "she's the one" Cd, so following that "echo" seems "rough" in vocals, mixes, etc. Not that there are not a few good songs, but not as many good ones as compared to say "wildflower" or "full moon fever". But I'm looking back in hindsight, I'd like to know what the longtime fan thought when it FIRST came out, not now looking back. Did you think Tom is in trouble, or depressed ? Howie, missing from the cover, etc. Let me know, I'm really curious about this and I think that this could be a good discussion.

I've been listening to TP's " she's the one" CD and "echo" CD.

my dad use to ask us if we had sence to come out of the rain. Or he'd get mad and cuss and my mom use to tell him not to use that kind of lanquage, and he use to say what happened was so bad it would make a preacher cuss !!

Thanks alot, words from you guys helped me alot. I almost feel like larry talbot, cept I don't turn into a werewolf, but an ordinary day can just go to such a weird one once I get depressed, and it comes and goes at anytime. He was searching for peace for his soul too, he was looking for a way for his life to end, but I don't want to end anymore, but to start living again. I want my life back so bad.

Made my first appt. with a woman therapist. Hopefully I'm on my way to finally having the tools for peace of mind and I can start enjoying life again.

In the middle, but depending on how long they stay together, you can't really say when the 'middle" is. If TP keeps going the 90's could be the middle.
