Great, Its so cool to know that in listening to these Cd's everyone can comment. I enjoy hearing what "fans" have to say ( people who actually bought the Cd, and wasn't given a copy to review ) nice !! -
Oh wow I just wrote this long thesis and my log time ran out.

same here, but it must've hurt Stan's feelings when TP used a different drummer on Full Moon Fever, especially since the guy he used was the drumtech.(Phil Jones). I wonder if Steve's feelings were hurt when he used himself on the last Cd ?

I put away full moon fever, and got out the 2nd Cd, "you're gonna get it ". This Cd is very byrds like ( when the time comes, listen to her heart, and the song he wrote for Roger, Magnolia ). I like all of these songs, and most of the ones here are good. But who got it when it first came out ? Great harmony singing by Stan on "listen to her heart". My only complaint about this Cd is it is short with only 10 songs on it. One song sounds like it could've came off "beggars banquet" by the stones. ( no second thoughts ). What do you think ?

In 1974 or so I read an interview with Keith Richard from Rolling stone magazine( it was a paperback book with several interviews that had first been published in rolling stone, there was 2 volumes ), and I use to read that over and over when I would be depressed. Now its the petty interviews that I read. 2 remarkable interviews with 2 great musicians talking about their music and their lives.

some buddy holly and bo diddley influences show through too !! -
I loved this book too. Its interesting because it tells many of the stories that later appeared in the film, runnin..etc. Myf avorite part is on how he wrote the songs and recorded them.

Full Moon Fever.....what do you think ?

Interesting comments. If you listen there is so much going on, the accoustic gtrs, the way the tamborine comes in on certain songs, the 12 strings. It is just so full of little recording bits. I agree, if you hear something to much, you start getting tired of it. I still like this Cd, but as I said, I haven't really listened to it alot, but I know most of the songs on it. I too would rather hear TP play other songs, but someone must want to hear these, cause why would he always play these ? -
I was actually going to be a commercial artist at one time. I can draw cartoon people very well, but other things in life took me elsewhere.

Don't know who did it, but the songs' lyrics go " C'mon baby Its time to rock (don't let go, don't let go ).......also the another one that is really good, is George Harrison's first solo Cd " wonderwall" its all instrumental but very mood setting.....once ( a long long time ago, back in the eighties ) had a lady in bed and things were getting hot and a cassette of oldies were playing and that song came on "Let me in, let me in,......we... we oo, we oo", I remember thinking oh no !! LOL

Tonight we return after a 2 week vacation. We've added "No Particular Place To Go ", " Good Rockin' Tonight" and "the Way I walk". Songs by Chuck Berry, Elvis, and jack Scott !! I'm working on "I won't back down"..we plan on playing that when we play the annual cancer cure walk in Sept. Also we are still working on "have I the right" and 1,2,3 by Len Barry.

It's getting better all the time .....................

Well I've been listening to this for over a week now. This was the first Cd of TP's that I got (even though it was a copy on cassette ) I later got a CD copy. I like this Cd, every song I like, and even though quite a few were hits, they are really good songs, and Tom must like it, since he has played songs from this CD, since it has came out. I know some people don't like it for that very reason. I love his version of the Byrds " I'll feel a whole lot better" he added a few bars of music here and there, as its not an exact copy of the original. My current group does 3 songs from this Cd ( yer so bad, the apartment song and the byrds song). I like the little break about turning the LP and cassette over . Just a very enjoyable Cd. But what do you think ? Did you buy it when it first came out ? One thing I notice that most retail stores always have this and the greatest hits Cd in stock. quite amazing for how long ago this came out. I liked the videos from this too. Is this Tom's finest hour ? Is this his "pet sounds" ? What do you think ?

Great info Nurk, you seem to have everything correct !! Did you happen to get the vintage guitar magazine a few years ago with TP on the cover ? It had quite a few pictures of his guitar collection plus a great interview with him and Mike on their guitars. He said his favorite ( at the time ) was the maple glo 12 string ric like Roger's that he used on the tonight show ( doing.." saving grace" ).

yes, and we do. Most clubs give you a drink a set, sometimes one before and after. So on the avg. you get 4 to 5 a night. Use to drink more when we were younger, and someone is always buying the band a drink, especially if they liked the song you just did, or if you did one special for them. Or in the old days, if a woman was interested in you, she would send up a drink !! I've played both with and without, and playing in front of people has never been a problem to be nervous about, you just get use to it, like driving or anything else you do, the more you do it, the easier it becomes. My drink of choice nowadays is a shot of peppermint shnapps on ice with a tall ice water, it seems to smooth my throat as I sing.

Long After Dark..... your thoughts on
Dynabeat Tim replied to Dynabeat Tim's topic in Great Wide Open
But did anyone know that the 'riff' to "Straight into darkness" is the same as the intro to the Rolling stones song " Tell Me " ? The stones do the lick on accoustic 12 string, just in the intro to start the song . If you've got that by the stones, check it out. With my recent problems, "Deliver Me" takes on a special meaning, especially the line " Sometimes I wonder if this is all worth it ".......and also "Change of Heart"...the line "well I fought for you and you through it all away " great lines that I can relate to. And absolutely love the first tune, " One story town"...this Cd really rocks. Now it appears when you listen to what came next, "southern accents" with the horns and the female chorus's, that Tom had hit a peak here and had a hard time following such a strong LP. ( my op). Maybe thats why he was so frustrated. This Cd is great in the car, played very loud !!
