  1. This is odd for me. I like being left alone. I do not like to be in crowds (baseball stadiums, large malls, etc.) But......I like when my band is playing, that the place is packed, the more the merrier. The bigger the venue, the better. Maybe its because then I'm up on stage and not looking for a seat, or people are coming up and talking to me, etc. I think three of my fellow band members feel the same, although one guy does like to go around crowds, etc. This was a good question. I guess alot of us, like privacy.

  2. Just got a email from a "monkee site" that Peter Tork has a rare form of cancer. Its on his "tongue". He had surgery on Wed., and is recovering.

He will have treatment and hopefully will be returning to his band in June for some concerts. He has a blues band called Shoe suede blues or something on that order. He is 67. He is expected to recover, and he thanks his fans for the well wishes.

  3. If I can find them, and the price is right. They are usually cheaper than when you buy them in stores. And sometimes, you don't know that they are booted until you actually get them as they sometimes say its a foreign release ( and even TP has some foreign b-sides that are not on CD's here). One seller sales boots all the time, but he does it in such a way he gets away with it. He sales for example a rare boot of the Kinks on Dvd ( but its not what is for sale, that is a freeby, he is actually "selling" Tom Jones greatest hits on cassette for $30 plus shipping and he will "throw in" the rare Kinks DVD for free ). How bout that ?

  4. I know they're popular, but for a child to have them is stupid. There are far to many spineless parents that want to their child to think of them as 'friends" and let them have all kinds of sh*t. Then 'other' parents are forced into falling in line to stay popular. I see it everyday, these working moms who feel guilty for having to work, so they let their kids dictate what they do, what they buy, etc. OR some moms try to wear their daughter clothes, and you can't tell who's the mom whose the kid. What if your kid asked for a gun or a knife to take to school cause his friends were carrying too. Just say no, and let it go at that. Now for sports kid, let him use one on that day only. and have him put down some collartaral in case he does lose it. He's probably got a TV or some Video game that you can hold until the phone is returned. And why when they can start driving ? Do you really believe that they have the experience to drive and talk at the same time ?

  5. It is my popular belief that restraining orders don't work cause the people who are suppose to protect us, and enforce the orders, are just afraid of the person as their victim. Now these judges are tough on people for not paying parking tickets, etc., but when they've come across someone who's beat the f**k out of someone, they're scared too.

  6. My friend who teaches at a local community college and teaches the history of Jazz, once taught a "beatles" class for adult ed. Of course it wasn't for any class credit, unfortunately. Alot of his Jazz class students think its a blow off class, and always get upset when he expects more. I have a feeling that this Beatle class, if handled correctly, would be like that, as it should be.

  7. My daughter's pets are like other people's children. I believe she would find the money somewhere for their care, and the pet lover's I know would do the same.

But there are alot of people who have pets that can't afford their pets in even good economic times. So it comes down to the person.

  8. Johnny Carson...really set the tone for what late night TV should be, a little satire, but nothing to make you go to bed wondering what the hell Washington was going to be doing the next day. You really didn't know if he was a conservative or liberal, at least by his jokes, he took on everybody, equally to, and then there was Tom Snyder, who had some great musical guests back in the 70's, especially when he was more one on one with someone. David Letterman was really funny when he started, all the skits and crazy stuff, last time I checked in with him, it didn't seem quite as funny. I guess it all comes down to what a person is looking for before turning off the light. With so many cable channels, plus DVD's, internet, maybe late night now is not what it was when it started, the last thing before the National Anthem and a test pattern.

  9. I'm trying to find out how much the US government, the 50 states, the cities and the counties spend on employee health care. Does anyone know ? I know its alot, but how much of our hard working dollars go to provide "free" health care. The president said last week that the rising cost of health care is the number one thing breaking us, so if they stop all "free" health care, and made their employees purchase it, how much would we "save". OR if there has to be a national health care, why not start with government employees first, and see how it goes. If all goes well, that should debunk those who think that care would suffer. If in each town, state, etc. we had clinics that only cared for 'government workers ( school teachers, librarians, elected officials, police, firefighters, etc.) and their dependants" and leave the private hospitals for those who do not work for government or schools, how long would the lines be ? How good would the care be ? Where and how can I find these figures. I tried google, but came up with alot of discussions, not figures. Or is there no way of finding out ? In these days of asking the US auto worker to take less, is it not time to ask the same of our public servants ? Is now the time to "not ask what your country can do for you, but what you can do for your country" ?

  10. 5 years ago the cost of medical for my wife and I was close to $875. It was the greatest of plans, it had a $25 copay at the Dr., and $15 for prescriptions if they were generics. But the kicker was because our company paid the bill, and we were officers of our company, at the end of the year we had to count the premiums as income, and pay tax on the premiums. People who have insuarance through their employer don't know how lucky they really have it. Imagine if everyone had to pay income tax on their insurance coverage. We now get it through my wife's employer but we pay close to $400 a month for our share. Now why can't the government charge their workers a fair amount to cover the cost. Especially when the President is saying that health care is the biggest single cost today. How much less tax would be needed from the working class, if all county, state, federal workers. and elective positions had to pay part of their premium and then the part they get for free they have to claim as income ?

  11. I've listen to him...........most of my life................amazing voice talent............

  12. I prefer to say, "oh excuse me, you go first, I'm only pretending that I'm in line with these groceries" or my favorite if you're in a restaurant, say "that's okay, you go first, it looks like you haven't ate in an hour" I hate the people that somehow are in "two" lines, like they're not sure which line is moving the quickest, so they sort of hover between the two lines. I always get a kick, when someone slides into a spot, and then they open a new line, and I get in first, cause I wasn't trying so hard to get in one. I prefer the self help lines actually, I hate "small talk" in the grocery lines.

  13. My brother birthday is this month, and so is my wife's, which is one day before our youngest son's. And what a joy he is.

This year he will be 4 (where does the time go ?), and its because of him and his brother and sister that I get strength to go on everyday. Their smiles make me so happy and proud.
