  1. I love Elvis Costello - his musical journey, his glasses and Allison. I sure wish his talk show would come back to the Sundance Channel. I always learned so much when he talked about music.
  2. The video seems like a visual-poetic metaphor for the process behind Stevie's new album - meeting up with David Stewart, becoming comfortable, trusting and writing music and lyrics together - side-by-side, holding each other's hands, guiding each other...and then they pick up Mike for a short ride - one or two songs and magic flies into the bus, into the studio, on to our screens and through our speakers. I am infactuated with this video - with the words to that song, with the melody's sensibilities - so easy to sing, so compelling to remember,so soft on my aged voice - no note too high to reach -- pure good intentions.
  3. Stevie looked beautiful. And she seemed so relaxed, just looking out the window, strumming that guitar, watching the guys take photos....fun. So natural.
  4. We had a small storm this morning - I am so thankful for the rain.
  5. What a lovely video and Mike steals the show with that black outfit, that tall hat and that amazing smile. Fun watching him out in the dessert, twirling on the cracked-dried earth, playing that guitar, red hued as the sun set and the video ends.
  6. Nope - not really good at anything, but I like to do a long list of things, but I can't admit to being an expert at anything.
  7. ^It's not pathetic - it all comes down to interests. Sewing on a button is an art - your mom sounded like she was amazing. If you ever need to sew on a button send me a message and I will walk you through it. Each botton, fabric, outfit is unique -- just like all of us.
  8. I read about it in Rolling Stones - I can't wait to see it.
  9. I like to write in my free time. My first published essay is supposed to be in print soon.
  10. He'd have to be a really young 70 year old.
  11. We have a new puppy named Eli. My sister picked him out at a nearby shelter. He is part lab and part something smaller - a perfect mixture of fun, love and a whole lot of craziness.
  12. I am very interested in genealogy and trying to learn about the best apples on the family tree since some of the recent harvest wouldn't be considered "AAA" or "Top Choice." When I got out of graduate school decades ago and didn't have much money for Christmas presents due to student loans, I spent hours in the library investigating my great great grandfather, a civil war painter, for my mother. I learned that he got married just a mile from where I lived at the time in Memphis and that he retired near where my sister was living at the time on Long Island. Some of the similarities in our lives was a bit spooky. So as to the second part of the question, I took my mom to Sarasota, Florida for mother's day this year and we went to one of her high school classmates house for dinner. The lady said, "What did you ever see in Oscar (my father)? - None of us can understand why you married such a loser." I wanted to punch that seventy-six year old woman.
  13. Jimi Hendrix! And of course, the Beatles, Queen - (with the amazing Eddie Mercury) and Elvis when he was young.
  14. If they come to Houston - I want to be right there with you Lizzie.
  15. ^How was Buffalo Springfield? I wanted to fly out for that concert, but couldn't.
  16. I went to see Vonda Shepard, who played on the Aly McBeal show. She was great and oh so fun. The one before that was Emmy Lou Harris - that woman can sing and write touching ballads - and the musicians complimenting her were fabulous and boy could they harmonize.
  17. ^^You got to be kidding me (LOL) -- Kathleen Turner may be histerical but....where did you find Stevie in that character?
  18. Nurk - I am so sorry. You and his family are in my prayers.
  19. I wish I could wave a magic wand erasing the lines, lifting my sags and shedding the spare tire around my middle.
  20. ...this is what she said: “I had Botox and I hated it. For four long months, I looked like a different person. It almost brought down the whole production of the last tour. It was so bad, I would look into the mirror and burst into tears. Botox is becoming the new face of beauty and it’s unfortunate because it makes everybody look like Satan’s children. Everybody has pointed eyebrows. Everybody looks related. All the Desperate Housewives look like sisters. If you’re an unattractive girl who’s trying to be beautiful with Botox, forget it. If you are a beautiful girl who’s trying to be beautiful with Botox, you will look like you’re angry all the time. You’d have to tie me down to get me to do it again.”
