Six years ago, I was forced out of a well paying job, where my boss would slink around at five minutes to five on a Friday evening to make sure I was still there eventhough I work 60 to 75 hour weeks. With my new job I make half of what I used to make, but I have had time to get an MFA and to write --something I always wanted to do. I am so much happier and I'm much easier to be around. Scaling back can be a beautiful thing.....

The office party is tonight...I'm not fond of office parties, but I'm hoping the boss passes out a nice check.

Tom Petty in Rolling Stone (1145: 12-08-11)

I loved when Tom was quoted as saying..."We just did some shows last weekend at a little place and most of the show, we did pretty deep album cuts. I wouldn't be surprised if that becomes more the rule than the exception" I don't know about everyone else, but I would be happy if they would only play deep tracks from now on. I love when they pull out something and they are so surprised and happy that we love it. Surprises and varied sets really make going to a string of concerts so much more rewarding. I hope they get out there soon - with deep tracks, trying new ones, making mistakes once and awhile, and having a blast. When they are having alot of fun on stage, I think we feel it and it makes for a magical evening. -
I love my shower, so I said the bathroom. I think best in the shower, maybe because I'm a Picses.

No. I stink at trivia. But I love really good converstations that go somewhere.

I love the traditional classics, especially "Hark the Herald Angels Sing," "Silent Night," and "Oh! Come All Ye Faithful." I also love when kids sing the refrain of "Angels We Have Hear on High" - their chins raised, reaching for those notes, singing loudly.

Happy Birthday - you are always so generous and kind on this forum....I hope you get at least 100 times back what you so generously give. Have a great year and a wonderful celebration.

I would repeal the second amendment. I do not believe in the universal right to bear arms. Although I believe there are many responsible gun owners and there are reasons to own a gun, I don't believe everyone should have the right to own a gun.

And Stevie Nick's tambourine is over $3k.....so great for those dogs.

We hang ours on Christmas Eve - and every year the person who has had the "worst" year gets "The Boot" -- a potholder in the shape of a cowboy boot. It's fun to guess who is going to get it and why. We also include crazy things like an old watch (The wake up prize), deodorant (The you stink prize), candies (the you're the sweetest prize)... I made the stockings back when I travelled all the time on business. It gave me something to do in the hotel rooms when I couldn't fall asleep.

I'm best under pressure.

I know the first and last verse...the last verse from choir (35 years ago) - that is my favorite one. Oh! thus be it ever, when freemen shall stand Between their loved home and the war's desolation! Blest with victory and peace, may the heav'n rescued land Praise the Power that hath made and preserved us a nation. Then conquer we must, when our cause it is just, And this be our motto: "In God is our trust." And the star-spangled banner in triumph shall wave O'er the land of the free and the home of the brave!

Now that is a bummer and complete BS. Oh well....I'm glad we have the farm. No one tells me I don't exist here. -
TomPetty.com Shuts Down Their Message Boards

I can't remember my login name it's been so long since I used it...and although the site told me that it would email me a reset link, it didn't. I've always seemed to have technical problems when it comes to www.tompetty.com. Now, after hearing this, I'm glad for techical issues. And even more happy that this site is so friendly and filled with really nice and gentle people. -
"For What It's Worth" Buffalo Springfield and Stevie Nicks (I guess I am stretching this since Stevie Nicks isn't technically a band).

Thanks Ryan.
