  1. Has anyone ever been to a concert at Piazza Napoleone in Lucca?

I absolutely love Lucca and the surrounding countryside. I climbed one of the towers in Lucca on a Sunday morning. Behind me was a men's choir. When they reached the top they started singing Ave Marie...tears came to my eyes as I listened and marveled at the Tuscan countryside.

  2. I'm happy they are touring...and they are going to in U.S. cities with direct flights for me (sorry for being selfish). This is an exciting day....and eventhough I won't get to as many shows as last 2010, I am excited to see their beautiful faces, their grins...and to hear some of my favorite music...Let's hope for more deep tracks, more guitar solos....more time for Benmont to shine on those keys....Yes, Yes, Yes...This is so great!

  3. It doesn't seem like there are enough breaks in the tour yet...but I'm just thinking about potential fatigue -- Also, getting everything from Lucca to Mannheim in 24 hours - seems a bit rushed. Plus that Mannheim booking seems a bit out of place on the map.....They seem to be backtracking south to north than back south.... (That is what happend last time before they rearranged.)

  4. I really wanted to go to this show, but couldn't convince myself to pay the ticket price. I'll bet it was a great show! (I didn't know Sean was going to be there, too. What a treat!)

It was a fun show. I like to sit upstairs at Dosey Doe - usually the sound is better after it mixes in the air and bounces off the barn's wooden planks. That night I walked in during the sound check - watching how meticulously the Watkins want their music to sound. Unfortunately, the sound guy at Dosey Doe didn't get all the intricacies -- But Sarah's voice rang like a bell, accentuated by her brother's harmonies. Both are such amazing musicians, their fingers are fun to watch. But, the Blind Boys were truly the stars of the show -- what voices, what spirit!!!

During one of their song, "Way Down in the Hole" the "Blind Boys" were singing about keeping the devil in the hole and our corked wine bottle fell from our table and down from the balcony, hitting a server below....we hadn't even touched the table and boom! We were laughing that it had to be the devil since it sure wasn't us.

Hey Lizzie if you ever want to go to Dosey Doe and you need someone to go with...just let me know.

  5. Six years ago, I was forced out of a well paying job, where my boss would slink around at five minutes to five on a Friday evening to make sure I was still there eventhough I work 60 to 75 hour weeks. With my new job I make half of what I used to make, but I have had time to get an MFA and to write --something I always wanted to do. I am so much happier and I'm much easier to be around. Scaling back can be a beautiful thing.....
