TomFest reacted to dollardime in Covers of Tom Petty songs
Marty Stuart does such a friggin' awesome version of RDAD that he's the exception to the rule of just posting one version...this is sublime stuff again and if anything the end solo is even more like what Mike would do than the first awesome version posted already in this thread...can't get enough of this!

TomFest got a reaction from Mudcrutch in Dirty Knobs at Ride Festival
There is a soundboard recording of this show up on Dime. I've never seen/heard a Dirty Knobs soundboard before. It's really good!

TomFest reacted to helenreddymades in 1971 and 1972 Mudcrutch newspaper ads
I found two ads for Mudcrutch gigs from page 18 of the Naples Daily News Fri 22 Sept. 1972 & page 18 Williamsport Sun Gazette (PA) Fri. 23 Apr. 1971. Anybody know any more about these tours?

TomFest reacted to nurktwin in LP of the Week II
8/9/16
This weeks LP is Brian's Band, better known as the Rolling Stones. This is the early stuff when Brian started the band and was the leader.

TomFest reacted to dollardime in Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Mary Jane's Last Dance (live on MTV VMA 94)
Oh my my, oh hell yes. Killer extended version of MJLD here from MTV 1994 VMA show when it was actually a new song for the band, before Stan departed, and before MTV became all about '16 & Pregnant' and 'Jersey Shore' reality TV!

TomFest reacted to dollardime in Stans last and Steve's first TV show performance with The Heartbreakers (probably)
And (probably...open to correction) Steve's first live TV show performance with The Heartbreakers, 21st November 1994....You Wreck Me..
I loved Steve's free wheelin early drumming style personality with the Heartbreakers from around 94 -99....was more 'free' in style in those early years I think...he still has that in him but he plays the way Tom wants him to play in terms of not too much flash being the order of the day which has become more pronounced as time has gone on.

TomFest reacted to dollardime in Stan plays live with Roger McGuinn on The Tonight TV Show Feb 1st 1991
King Of The Hill TV performance that Stan plays drums on...one of my favorite songs...that Tom wrote with McGuinn...Would have been great if TP joined for this performance as well...I suppose it was too much to ask. I would have loved if Mudcrutch did this when McGuinn showed up in New York during the Mudcrutch tour this year.

If anyone is interested, I recorded the 3 songs they performed live in the studio at NPR "World Cafe", and I'm happy to share them out. Send me a PM with your e-mail address and I'll send you a link to download the MP3 files from my dropbox. The 3 songs are:

TomFest reacted to viejolu in Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers - Honey bee (Docks, Hamburg, 23-4-1999)
I live in Hamburg and I have been at the concert in 1999. I came directly from a fishing vessel, where I had been working over the week before and went to the concert, so I was still sort of waving back and forth. I didn't have a ticket, but got one from someone on the street. Looking back I think it was the best concert I have ever attended. Watch "Gloria" from this show and you get a feeling for what I mean. If you listen carefully you can hear me shouting...

TomFest reacted to dollardime in Tom Petty 1983 MTV Party clips at his house looking through pictures!
So I guess this must be a clip part of the 'rarer than rare' Cameron Crowe documentary video tape that was made in the early 80's...a couple of very interesting things here including how Bo Diddley inspired American Girl and that swedish version of I Need To Know that was posted by Szafira in the 'covers of Tom Petty songs' thread.

TomFest reacted to wild1forever in This day in TPATH history: Live Aid, 7/13/1985
Okay, who remembers watching this? (I seem to remember that one of our former Farmers was actually there!)
In spite of the Rebelettes, it was still a fun show.
