They were records on the side of the cereal boxes - embedded in the box & were around all through 1960s -1970s.  (Not vinyls / acetate.) These were cardboard with a thin cover of plastic. You'd either pop it out along perforated edges or cut around the circle along the thick line. Brilliant reimagining of what an A4 size cereal box could be. Given they were mass market, from what I know, most of the music is also mass appeal: The Monkees, in 1970s Jackson 5.

Look - the Super Deluxe package carries a steep price - I get that.  Still - any complaint about price is not valid, in my opinion.  There is a much less expensive package that includes ALL of the same music.  That is 4 CD's for about $25.  Show me another artist that does that.

There is truly something for everyone here and my point was - it's not a fair criticism to insult the band or their fans just because someone can't or won't afford the more expensive offering.

So here's their list - I'd say it's a pretty good try.  I'm not a metal guy, so I'd probably swap out the Ibanez for an Epiphone Casino, but I could live with the rest.
    10 - Gibson Explorer
    9 -  Ibanez Jem
    8 - Gibson Flying V
    7 - Rickenbacker 300 series
    6 - Gibson SG
    5 - Gretsch 6120 (Chet Atkins)
    4 - Gibson ES-335
    3 - Fender Telecaster
    2 - Fender Stratocaster
    1 - Gibson Les Paul

We went to Cleveland last night to see the Yankees and Indians ballgame, and the Yankees won   Tix were a birthday present from my daughter. We had great seats on the lower level at 3rd base. It was in the 90's when we got there and didn't get much cooler by games end! We just missed catching about 4 foul balls by a couple rows, but we did make it on the JumboTron Screen in Centerfield 2 times! After the game, there were fireworks to the music of Led Zeppelin. By the time we got home it was about 2-3am, but it was a great night out.

Yeah, sadly it was near the end for him though.  His voice was not great, but a huge smile never left his face all night.  The band were all clearly having a blast, and so did we.  It was a summer evening outdoor concert, and the weather was perfect.  RIP Levon.

The price is what - $45 for the 4 CD's?  That is a great price.  I do not understand anyone complaining about the price.  The 'deluxe' package includes the hardcover book - which is why it's so much.  Having said that, I haven't bought either one yet.  Still trying to decide if they're going to release a blu-ray version after I buy the deluxe set. I do want the book.

"All The Wrong Reasons" has been bouncing around my noggin for a couple of days.  Longer than that really.  That song never leaves for very long.  Which is odd, because I rarely listen to it.

The important thing is that we can still play the music on real instruments and sound good!!!!! I don't have to write music for a symphony, just for myself. And after all, isn't that what it's all about?

Here's my #1 thing I'd like to see. It's a book!! I have a huge white hardback book in a white case titled "The Beatles, The Complete Scores". It's about 1140 pages long and has the music scores of every Beatle song. The lyrics are there, and the music scores for every instrument recorded on their songs. It's amazing, anything you wanted to know from chords to notes are there. I'd love to see a book like this about EVERY song TPATH has ever done. That is my top wishlist pick, I'd love to have a book like that to sit with my Beatles book.

So if my math is right, something will happen at 8:00 am Pacific time on Wednesday morning?   Gotta be the Wildflowers release we've been hearing about for years, doesn't it?

This is one where the live version won me over.   I guess it just sounds less "mechanical" than the studio version.  More real.  But I'm not big on the "Let Me Up" album overall.  After that record is when Tom and the band really caught fire.

    Two random thoughts:
    1) So effing hot here. We don't have A/C, but honestly need it only one week out of the year. However, that week sucks. 😆
    2) Hey Tomfest, how bout those Mariners???

TomFest got a reaction from toshi in About To Give Out - lyric change on HD version
I posted this on the TP forum also, but you guys talk more over here.....
Anyway, I just picked up the HDTracks hi-res versions of "Echo" and "The Last DJ".   I'm spinning "Echo" and I hear a definite lyric change on "About To Give Out".
My original CD has the line "Davy Crockett in a coonskin town" repeated a few times throughout the song, but the HD Tracks version says something like "Davy Crockett in a cool-ass town".  Not 100% certain on that lyric, but it's definitely changed from the original.
I thought these HD Tracks were just remastered, but this is clearly re-recorded.   Which begs the question:  Why?
Was this an attempt at political correctness?  What say you?

Jon - thanks for popping in. I think most people get that you were an important part in getting airplay for Tom's records, and you're not just "cashing in".  I'm looking forward to reading your book.  Congratulations on that, and condolences on losing your friend.

Just five album tracks that I like and that you might not hear too much on the radio. They're good though.
The albums are good too. If you like the songs you should look into them.
    1. The Guess Who - Friends of Mine (Wheatfield Soul, 1968)

    2. Bachman-Turner Overdrive - Second Hand (Not Fragile, 1974)

    3. Max Webster - In Context of the Moon (High Class In Borrowed Shoes, 1977)

    4. April Wine - Tonite (Harder...Faster, 1979)

    5. Loverboy - Take Me To The Top (Get Lucky, 1981)

I tried using the same strings as Tom once.
I mean literally the same strings. Taken off his guitar, put on mine.
As far as sounding alike goes.. that did not work.
