  1. The ballgame on AM radio sometimes. But not really anything else anymore. In the car, its CD's or my music library on my smartphone via bluetooth through my car stereo. Works great, and I have a crazy amount of music with me at all times.
  2. I have Tom Petty and Neil Young. Several professional athletes from when I was a kid, up through when I used to run a baseball card shop years ago. Ken Griffey, Jr being the local hero. But I also have Willie Mays (my all time favorite player) and Johnny Bench who I idolized as a kid. I have some other actors that my brother gets me when he goes to Comic Con (sp?) and Sci-Fi type conventions. I don't collect them, but I do seem to have a collection. How did that happen?
  3. Filmed in my hometown at the Kingdome in Seattle. This is the show I should have been at, but this broke high-school student didn't have the price of a ticket.
  4. Just saw this in the paper today. They're going to show the "Wings Over America" tour film "Rockshow" in the theaters again. I'm going for sure. I was crazy to miss that tour. When that 3-record set came out I pretty much wore it out. http://www.rockshowonscreen.com/
  5. Taking Mom out for lunch on Saturday for a little early Mother's Day, and the kids are cooking something up for their Mother on Sunday, but they haven't told me what it is.
  6. Helped my son buy his first used car a couple of months ago - a big old V-8 Mustang. Watch out world. Before that, we bought a new Ford Escape in 2011.
  7. A discussion elsewhere compels me to put forth a case for The Monkees inclusion in the Rock & Roll Hall of Fame. Let's time travel back to late 1966.... -"The Monkees" debut album takes the #1 spot on the Billboard album charts on November 12, 1966, and stays at #1 for about 3 months until knocked out of that spot by...... -"More of The Monkees" which took the #1 spot on February 4, 1967 and retained the top spot for the next 4 months until knocked out by..... -"Headquarters" which hit #1 on June 24, 1967. Had the "Platinum" and "Multi-Platinum" designations for record sales existed in those days, the first 5 albums from The Monkees would all have qualified for those awards. Which other bands from the 60's can make that claim? If any others can, I'd wager that all of them are in the Rock And Roll Hall of Fame. And let's point out that in 1967, record sales of The Monkees exceeded those of The Beatles and The Rolling Stones - combined. Now, if we're going to dismiss The Monkees record sales as meaningless, you must dismiss all other artist's record sales as well, including the Beatles. So, we've now established that all record sales are meaningless in determining the quality of a band. What criteria to use, then? How about the opinions of their peers? The Beatles were fans of The Monkees. They enjoyed the TV show, in a Marx Brothers fashion - which was The Monkees intent. They personally met, partied, and jammed together on occasion, and of course Peter played on George's first solo record. There are numerous quotes where the Fabs each pay their respects to The Monkees. Didn't perform or contribute to their own records? Of course they did. Even on the earliest of their songs there were at least vocals performed. And Mike was producing some sessions from the very start. Didn't play their own instruments? Maybe not on the first recordings, but it wasn't long before they were all playing on the records. Used guest or studio musicians? Who didn't? Even the Fabs from Love Me Do to Let It Be, had other musicians on their records. Didn't write their own songs? Of course they did. They also recorded a lot of songs written by others. Who didn't do that? Which band - including the Beatles - didn't start out covering other artists songs, and including them on their record releases. Most everyone did. I'm not saying The Monkees are the equal of the Beatles. They aren't even in the same ballpark, but then who is? They are however, worthy of respect and inclusion in the R&R Hall of Fame. There are plenty of artists in the R&R HOF simply for their vocals - sometimes on the strength of only a few songs. The Monkees were so much more than that. Love live The Monkees!!!
  8. The last time I was on a boardwalk (Santa Cruz, CA) I think I did all of those things -plus rode a steam train to get there!
  9. Usually just the fact that it's the end of winter and the trees and flowers begin to wake. This year the added bonus of the fact that the weather has been incredible here so far in May!
  10. I do. I've been at the same place for the last 17 years and have always been able to keep it interesting and challenging by learning new skills and acquiring new responsibilities. I'm in the Network Management field and it's always changing. I'm grateful to our owner for providing me the opportunity to take care of my family for all of these years.
  11. I think you mean "Bellevue", which is right next to Kirkland. Bellevue is a nice, upscale city directly across Lake Washington from Seattle. You should have visited this weekend. The weather was in the 80's - which is unheard of for Seattle in early May!
  12. I have every episode of their show. The Monkees should be in the rock and roll hall of fame. I'm going to catch this tour when it stops in Seattle. RIP Davey Jones.
  13. 38 songs!!! Who works harder than Paul McCartney? Nobody. And always some new ones in there. This time he's doing John's "Being For The Benefit Of Mr. Kite". Awesome. 14. I'm going to call Seattle a medium sized city. Although really, I live in a suburb of Seattle.
  15. Chicken - cooked just about any way you'd like. Teriyaki chicken is probably first choice.
  16. Yes! It's 80 degrees in Seattle this weekend. Unbelievable and unheard of for early May.
  17. Bob Seger with Joe Walsh opening, just a few weeks ago.
  18. Those harmonies are so sweet. I love listening to the Everly Brothers.
  19. Nope, I can't think of anything I'd want to say, and I don't particularly want to spend the extra cash for something like that. It is fun to sometimes work out the puzzles that some people have though.
  20. It was a close call between 70's and 90's, but I picked 90's because of Wildflowers, She's The One, and Echo. All 3 get a lot of my attention. I do love the first 3 albums also though.
  21. Yes, my uncle used to own one back in the 60's. We'd go there occasionally, but it wasn't very close by us.
  22. We go to Costco occasionally. They guarantee the lowest price in the area for gas, and there are a few things we buy inside.
  23. Grew up listening to George Jones around our house. This was my favorite of his..... PODFOF8rmSE
  24. Play some music with the band.
