That was cool, thanks. I've always loved the Kinks. My first band played "All Day And All Of The Night", and my current band just started doing "Sunny Afternoon" which is a really fun song.

Sorry - I wasn't specifically referring to the Columbus, Ohio show. I saw them at Red Rocks, both shows. Maybe it was because of the layoff from the first part of the tour, but I just didn't think they were hitting on all cylinders. I thought there was a lack of polish, and energy - and that is not typical of this band. The first show more than the 2nd. But then the 2nd show was interrupted by the thunder and lightning and 20 minute downpour. That was a total bummer. I just didn't think Tom sounded strong, or looked well, and he's shaking more than ever. It just made me kind of sad. And I haven't even mention what a drag it is getting in and out of Red Rocks with the endless amount of climbing and the traffic. Well, I guess I have mentioned it now. So all of that kind of added up to melancholy.
(..but I liked the setlist) :-)

Nurk - I use a Boss BVB-60. On my board, I currently have a Polycom tuner, a Keeley compressor, a Fulltone OCD (trying it out), an Ibanez Tube Screamer (TS-808 chip), a Fender '63 Reverb pedal, and a Boss TR-2 trem pedal. A couple of my old Fender amps don't have reverb or trem so I use those pedals. Pretty much the Tube Screamer is always on, the rest are used when needed.

The problem with sites like that is they often don't take into account that the artist was using a capo. Look at "Free Fallin'" in that example. They're showing it in "F" which it technically is - but Tom plays it in "E" with capo on 1. You can add capo on this particular site, but it still doesn't use the chord variations that Tom uses. The "B" chord they show is a straight up "B", but Tom never plays it that way. Still, it gets you pretty close I guess.

I know one thing more ungratifying, and that would be complaining endlessly about the setlists. It's more than a hobby for some around here. It's a way of life.

I've played through the entire package a couple of times on my 5.1 system at home, but not with headphones yet. I'll do that soon. Disc 1 is going to be on repeat in the car for a while.
I was turning 9 years old that summer of 1967 and didn't experience Sgt Pepper when it was brand new. I'm pretty jealous of everyone that grew up with the Beatles and heard everything as it came out. For me, the Beatles catalog is all one big amazing body of work that I came to after the fact. Well, except for "The Long And Winding Road". I bought that single when it came out.

I bought the Super Deluxe set and it does not disappoint. Disc 1 is the greatest "Pepper" of all time, in my opinion. This stereo remix is unreal. It is fantastic and you're hearing things you never heard before. Wonderful stuff. And the other discs bring multiple very cool tracks. Everyone should buy it. Sell whatever you have to. It's that good.

I just listened to the October 2002 show from Shoreline Amphitheather - a really nice audience tape by the way - and it pretty much mirrors the setlist described in that review above. 8 songs from the latest release and no "Free Fallin' or "American Girl". A setlist heavy on the latest album and a deep dive into the catalog. The thing is, the audience is dead quiet and only politely clapping after the songs. They were waiting for the hits that never came. That kind of reception teaches the artist a thing or 2 about what the audience wants to hear.

Great to hear "Swingin'" again. I hope they play it when I see them.....and more from "Echo", please! I'm with Benmont on that - he'd rather they play an entire show of "Echo".

I see Sam Ash carries them and has a 45 day return policy. You might go that route, and give it back if you don't like it. I'd have to play through one for a while to form an opinion. They're solid state, which isn't my first choice. But hey, the Heartbreakers have recorded and toured with solid state amps so what do I know?

Very nice! I really like that fretboard too. Great looking wood on the body and neck. What fretwire is on there, do you know? And nice idea routing the body out like that. Most of the rosewood Telecasters I've seen all seem to be quite heavy. What does yours weigh?

Remember some years back when the Gibson Custom Shop re-issued the Eric Clapton ES-335 from his "Cream" days? One of the guys in my band bought one. It was also over $12,000. I asked his wife if she would adopt me, but sadly she declined.
