Yes, born in Seattle and still here. You'd think I would have floated away by now with all of this rain we get.....

The guitars sound nice - as expected, but they're playing Free Fallin' wrong.
They want $8,000 for the 6 string, and $5,300 for the 12. For well under those prices, you can get a vintage Martin D-28 with brazilian rosewood. Even Tom Petty would pick one of those over these guitars. For sure.

I usually watch some of it - especially if my team (University of Washington) gets in. Doesn't look too promising this year, but maybe.

He was there from the start, helping to get airplay for their records, and Stanley vouches for him. That's good enough for me. I'll read it.

I've seen photos of him with a different acoustic 12 string that also has that same bridge pin missing. Looks like probably one of the "G" strings. I guess he just liked having the single "G" string for some reason. Maybe so he could bend it? Who knows, but it looks like a deliberate thing.

I assume it's because Bruce was eligible for the R&R HoF for a few years before Tom was. Bruce's first album was out at least 3 years before the first Heartbreaker album, and one requirement is "at least 25 years since your first record". I think? Didn't both get in during their first year of eligibility?

Best "road" song ever. (with apologies to "Runnin' Down a Dream")

That was cool. Turned it into a waltz, I love it.

As far as I know, it stems from a minor car accident that he was in with his Grandmother (my mother) and Mom's sister - who was driving. He wasn't injured at all, but apparently that scarred him for life.
He seems to be mostly getting along fine using the bus and walking or bicycling, but it does limit his ability to look for work outside his local area. And even locally, buses don't run 24 hours a day, so how do you get to/from your 2nd shift or 3rd shift job? Not having a vehicle or even a driver's license is limiting. It makes you reliant on others for many things, or you do without.

I was surprised but I'd heard that supposedly the younger generations aren't as enthusiastic about driving as they were in the past. Anyone have any thoughts on this? Or know people who aren't excited to drive. I understand if you live in a big city like NY with plenty of public transport, but most other places you need a car.
Maybe they'd rather be on their phones than driving.
Thoughts?
My nephew is in his 20's and doesn't have a license. Says he's scared of driving.........of even being in a car.

I had the 45. Flip side was "Isn't It A Pity". Also a great song.

Best wishes for a rapid recovery for Pete! Take care!

Just curious - at what age do we add "young" to the end of our age? I'm 59, but am I 59 years young?

Good year - my first grandchild was born, I got a new job with a big raise, and I saw Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers 3 times. One thing kept it from being a great year.

Nope. I'll do some last minute shopping on Saturday.

That was very nice, thanks. And this is something we love to do - get 3 or 4 friends/bandmates together with acoustic instruments and have a night. We did just that on Saturday, and plenty of Tom Petty songs were heard. Great fun.

Did you catch the live streaming solo acoustic show that Neil did from his old hometown of Omemee, Ontario on Friday night? Pretty cool stuff. I didn't catch all of it, but I did get a good chunk. I heard him do "Don't Be Denied", which was very cool. Off the "Time Fades Away" record, which is one of my favorites - and pretty rare since I don't think it's ever been pressed on CD. Vinyl only. He had a pretty nice selection of vintage guitars on stage with him, and told a few stories about them.

Nurk - you have over 100 guitars, but only one Lester? Maybe you just haven't found the one that speaks to you. Maybe this Epiphone will do that.

^ and how many Les Pauls?

The Gorge. Red Rocks was also cool, but the Gorge is unbeatable.
