If you're not putting new holes in the guitar, why not? You can always put it back to original. Does your Goldtop have P90 pickups in it? With the whammy, you're all setup for some NYCH (Neil Young & Crazy Horse). Always good fun.

There is a nice bootleg of The Dirty Knobs from the Telluride show a couple of years back. It's a matrix of an audience tape, and the soundboard and sounds quite good.

As long as money is no object, I'll take a 1960 Gibson Les Paul Standard, please. I prefer the slimmer necks that came after 1959.

Robert Plant was/is a huge Elvis fan, and that influence has always shown through his work - from dropping "A Mess of Blues" into a Zeppelin medley (mis-heard as "Minnesota Blues"), to the entire feel of the Honeydrippers. As I said, I'm a huge Zeppelin fan, but he owes a big debt to Elvis and he'd be the first to say so.

Love the song. And Mike's little "Star Trek" riff with the ebow during the intro on that live clip. This song has always been a favorite.

I'm a huge Zeppelin fan, but I can't go with Robert Plant as all-time greatest. I have to split up "rock" and "rock and roll" into separate categories. And if you ever saw Zeppelin live, Robert only rarely could match what he did in the studio - and some would say he could not, after about 1971 or so. I haven't heard anyone mention Roger Daltrey or Paul Rodgers - both big time favorites of mine. And there are many more. These guys are rock. Rock and roll for me is mostly 50's and I'll take Elvis as the best rock and roll voice ever, and Roy Orbison 2nd. Best 2-sided single ever? "Don't Be Cruel", backed with "Hound Dog", and 'I Saw Her Standing There" backed with "I Want To Hold Your Hand" a close 2nd. But I digress...

Shelter - nobody has done anything to you. Relax. Your words are at least as offensive as you claim this recent offering to be. Give the family time to grieve. You'll get what you want eventually.

"Stop Draggin' My Heart Around" is not a TPATH song. I'm not a Fleetwood Mac expert, but I'd be surprised if they've never played a song that appeared on a Stevie Nicks solo record. 'Oh Well' could be in the setlist, but Lindsey isn't there to sing it, so who knows? How about "Black Magic Woman"? Mike could cut loose on that one. A lot of their show has to change without Lindsey being there. I'll take your 1,000 to 1 odds that "Stopping Draggin'" won't be played. I'll put up the dollar. LOL

I get that Ron would want to do the bigger shows. The only money he makes would be from touring, so the bigger, the better. Same with Scott, and probably Benmont too. I think most of the money is in publishing and touring, and really only Tom and Mike were getting songwriter credits all these years.

I do think we'll hear a Neil Finn song - and - "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around". I think without Lindsey in the band, they have some spots to fill because they'll drop some of his songs. "Don't Dream It's Over" isn't my favorite, but it was an international hit. I preferred "Something So Strong".

One thing about crappy guitars though - you want positive feedback when you're playing - especially when you're just starting to learn. If the guitar sucks - and maybe this is more applicable to crappy acoustic guitars - if it sucks and hurts your fingers to play it, you're not getting positive feedback and you're not going to stick with it. A decent instrument can go a long way toward keeping a youngster interested. And if it's not junk, you can still re-sell it if they do abandon it. Those $99 Epiphones are firewood when the kid gives up.

^ If your question is do I think this new version of Fleetwood Mac will play "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around", my answer is absolutely yes. How could they add Mike Campbell to the band and then ignore the connection between Stevie and Mike?

Some years ago, I bought a $99 Epiphone Les Paul for my young son. Other than a super crappy Strat knockoff that I bought in 1976 for $57, that is the single worst electric guitar I've ever purchased. I don' t know if the Epiphone SG for $99 is any better, but I'd be skeptical.

I wonder if Mike will sing Tom's part on "Stop Draggin' My Heart Around"? If not Mike, then who? Neil Finn, I suppose, but wouldn't we all rather have Mike take a crack at it?

Thanks! One of the guys in the band is mixing from the last time we played and he sent me that one today. I'll see what else comes up. We record every time we get together, and this was actually our first time since September. There was some rust to knock off. Our drummer has become a snowbird and he flew south for the winter. He's back now so we'll resume our regularly scheduled activities.

Hey Nurk - I know we've talked a lot about guitars, but I haven't actually ever shared anything I do with them. Here's my band a couple of weeks ago. ^ I saw that post at the BGC. And no, I do not ever recall seeing Tom on a Les Paul. Even in the early days when they only had a few guitars, Tom was usually playing Mike's Strat, or a Flying V. This is the only picture I've ever seen with Tom on a Les Paul.

Yes, Fender is probably my favorite guitar brand. Speaking of........here's a pic of Tom with one of his Telecasters. I took this photo at the Gorge in 2014. I just liked the way Tom was half in the dark and eve n his guitar disappeared and reappeared.

No, that's more of a "special", than a "junior". I'm thinking of the single P90 pickup, and wraptail bridge on the old yellow sunburst finish. This is from October 2002, just days after the release of "The Last DJ". Tom and the band did a 2-night stand at The Olympic Theater in Los Angeles, and it was simulcast to theaters around the country. I recall paying $10 to see it in Seattle. They put out a DVD from (I guess) the best versions from both nights. The website had a thing where the first 100 people that pre-ordered the DVD, received a copy signed by Tom. I got one of those, as did probably many other people here. As far as it being a grand time in Tom's life - I wouldn't expect that to be the case. The record is a rather melancholy look back at better times. George Harrison had died less than a year previous, and Howie had been fired from the band, and would pass away a couple of months after this show. Still, it's one of my very favorite records in his entire catalog.
