Well.. I DID realize that! But sadly there was nothing I could do for the poor... oh.. you meant.. ah! OK.
Other than that, I would like to add to this thread - even if it may be a bit beside the point - that most all of the VA artist tribute albums where TPATH contributed songs, are well worth checking out. If just for those TPATH songs. Some of those studio covers are among their finest recordings! Especially fine are the tributes to Sun records, Fats Domino and Chuck Berry... but there's more...

Just saw the Soundstage video yesterday, for the first time in years. Amazing stuff!! Yet so heartbreaking.. seeing some now dead friends on the screen. Both on and off stage, as it were..... very sad... to realize that there is so much death connected with my love for this band now..

O.K., more geeky facts... I was puzzled by the fact that the hawks you mentioned are called buzzards in German (Bussarde; Rotschulterbussard and Rotschwanzbussard) so I just had to look that up. Here we go.
Hawks are a group of medium-sized diurnal birds of prey of the family Accipitridae. Hawks are widely distributed and vary greatly in size.
The subfamily Accipitrinae includes goshawks, sparrowhawks, sharp-shinned hawks and others. This subfamily are mainly woodland birds with long tails and high visual acuity. They hunt by dashing suddenly from a concealed perch.[1] In the Americas, members of the Buteo group are also called hawks; this group are called buzzards in other parts of the world. Generally, buteos have broad wings and sturdy builds. They are relatively larger-winged, shorter-tailed and fly further distances in open areas than accipiters. Buteos descend or pounce on their prey rather than hunting in a fast horizontal pursuit. The terms accipitrine hawk and buteonine hawk are used to distinguish between the types in regions where hawk applies to both. The term "true hawk" is sometimes used for the accipitrine hawks in regions where buzzard is preferred for the buteonine hawks. (https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Hawk)

Saw that Bennmont had posted some kind words about Aretha Franklin and thought I'd share them incase someone missed them.
She was an amazing musician and talent and I really enjoyed her music pretty much my whole life.

A Tribute To Aretha From Benmont AUG 17, 2018

When the truly great ones pass — and Aretha was the best singer there was — the loss is more than just of that voice, that light, that vision, that sound. It is also of a way of thinking, of approaching both art and life. There are so many lessons to be learned from Aretha: in rhythm, in control, in how and when to embellish the melody, and even more important, when not to. And in life: she stood up. Here’s Aretha on her offer to put up bail for Angela Davis:
“My daddy (Detroit’s Rev. C.L.Franklin) says I don’t know what I’m doing. Well, I respect him, of course, but I’m going to stick by my beliefs. Angela Davis must go free. Black people will be free. I’ve been locked up (for disturbing the peace in Detroit) and I know you got to disturb the peace when you can’t get no peace. Jail is hell to be in. I’m going to see her free if there is any justice in our courts, not because I believe in communism, but because she’s a Black woman and she wants freedom for Black people. I have the money; I got it from Black people—they’ve made me financially able to have it—and I want to use it in ways that will help our people.”
Aretha influenced EVERYBODY. Rock & roll, soul, jazz... hell, she even stepped in for Pavarotti and sang some Puccini on the Grammies in ‘98, and you know if Pavarotti wasn’t listening to Aretha already he never would have allowed it! And as far as her piano-playing, she was a total badass, she made every record she played on — and that’s her you hear on the grand on the classic Atlantic sides, and so much more — swing deeper, speak truer, get to that heart of hearts — than it ever could’ve with another pianist.  I’ve always heard that Keith insisted that she play the piano herself when she covered Jumpin Jack Flash. And Keith knows his piano players! She was the deal, simply the deal, and to say “was” in the same sentence as “Aretha” just tears the heart out of me.
Keep listening to Aretha’s records, watching film of her performances, dancing, singing, playing along. And please: learn the lessons, and keep learning, and pass them on.
Rest In Peace in the arms of God, Aretha. And thank you.

hey twisterseal, dunno about what Petty was thinking, but I know I'm thinking jeez what a staid square prurient stolid interviewer, has he heard rumors of this idea called "fun" & is cautiously checking it out? I have great-aunts & uncles who are less disapproving, so it's not really an issue of age versus the new generation. Also does the interviewer realize it's 1983? Gary Lumpkin's approach might possibly have been ok in 1953, but after 30 years of music?
Many thanks to Shelter for this below - it's sort of an interview - a meta-interview?? Tom Petty's cameo in the film FM as the singer Tom Petty being interviewed in an FM radio studio.

Just stumbled upon Ben's live version from last year.. and went back for the original for the first time in a few months probably, and now I must say that You Can Still Change Your Mind really belongs on this list! I think you can really tell that it comes from the same time and place as The Best of Everything... That it carries some musical dna, that there's something that kinda reveals the fact that they are from the same era. But while most people seem to think that TBOE (that eventually came out in 85) is quite the masterpiece of a ballad, and while Tom himself brought that one out for quite a few live renditions, the closing ballad that actually made it to the album back in 1981, is a sadly overlooked and forgotten song, that to my ear is one of the TPATH best, quite simply.
Wonderful version this (I know, it's been up before...)

Ah.. Being quite a "crate digger" myself, when it comes to old abandoned vinyl, I really appreciate that story! Perhaps I wouldn't call that sleeve a great find, but again.. good story, and I know the feeling there exactly..
And.. it inspired me to post this "hidden" little gem in TP lore (and.. I don't actually think it's been up here before? not sure)

Yesterday I had a day off & after my errands, went crate digging in a local thrift shop.  I'd just found a good CD of another artist & thought hey, live dangerously, take a look in the horrible old vinyls... Vinyl donations  just get dumped in old milk crates on the floor & then searched through - so they're never in good repair.  But to my utter surprise there was a battered copy of FM movie soundtrack (Breakdown!).  I was very pleased for a second, but alas the vinyl was missing.  I sat on the floor and laboriously searched inside every album cover in both crates.  Nothing, except a lot of Christmas novelty music & some funny looks from other people.  Overall this is sad (no vinyl) but happy (I rescued the cover) and realistically, the vinyl once out of the cover would've been scratched to pieces.
But the thing I hope will please (and amuse) you all is that the manager suggested someone had stolen the vinyl, leaving the cover.  I politely agreed "maybe so" - though I doubt anyone would do that. Would they?  Then, perhaps just to get me out of the shop, she gave me the cover for free.  Which isn't much use to me, but I'd grown attached to it, as one might towards a lost & vulnerable puppy.
This is a photo from the net.  My new adopted one is much more battered!

Ann Wilson, Paul Rogers and Mr. Jeff Beck played last night at the PNC Arts Center in Holmdel, New Jersey. Ann can still sing those songs but I was there for one person. Jeff! It is possible? He just gets better every time I see him. Little Stevie was backstage, too....he loves Jeff! A night to remember for sure!

I have no idea. Maybe, just the feeling of being at my grandma's house laying in the shag carpet, watching the dust dance in sun beams as they come through the window, hearing people in the distance, and smelling my grandma's cooking. Just a sort of sensation rather than a memory. One of those "everything is alright in the world" things. Dreamville.

^ That's funny about the cereal. I did the same thing when I was a kid. They used to have 3D baseball cards in cereal, and I'd beg Mom to buy those.  Also, for a while you could get a record from the cereal box itself, I think. Seems like you cut them out of the box?  Anyway, it would actually play on my crappy little lunchbox record player.  For some reason, I'm thinking there were some of The Monkees?  Now I have to go down that rabbit hole and look for those....

I don't remember my childhood very well. Most of my memories are secondhand ones.
One of the more amusing ones that I can recall, though, is when I was eight or nine, an older kid living in my apartment building, who was something twice my size, stole my magnifying glass to try to set the lawn on fire or something dumb like that. I don't know how he expected to do that because it was a plastic dollar-store thing. I just stole it back.
When I was 10 or 11, I also talked my mother into buying a box of cereal that I didn't even really like. I just wanted the CD that was inside. Roller Coaster Tycoon is a good game.

I always remember as far back as I can (maybe 2 years old) the old homestead of my grandparents and all the parties we had in that huge 4 story house. My grandparents on both sides each had 11 children! And each of those had anywhere from 2 to 6 kids and we practically all lived in the same house (my Fathers side of the family). Grandmother cooked everyday for everyone, so supper was a huge get together every night. After that, the banquet dinner tables turned into gaming tables with Bingo, Roulette and Card games for all, even us kids. When it was time for bed, the kids were instructed to go upstairs to their bedrooms and go to sleep, while the adults cleared the basement of the tables and put on old 78 RPM records and danced the night away. I used to sneak down and listen to the music til i was caught and sent back upstairs. I'm pretty sure that's where my love of music started, and continues til today.

It would definitely be in 1973, the summer I turned 15, and Mom took my younger brother and I on our first ever real vacation - a flight to San Francisco (my first time on a plane), a game at Candlestick Park (against my favorite team the Big Red Machine, but sadly Willie Mays was no longer a Giant by that time), all of the tourist things in SF (Alcatraz, Fisherman's Wharf, Golden Gate Bridge, cable car ride, Lombard Street), then another flight to L.A. and my first time at Disneyland.
Our "rich" Uncle (Mom's brother) lived in San Francisco, and I suspect he helped pay for everything, otherwise I have no idea how Mom pulled this off. I had worked a part-time job that summer and had some cash.  There is a picture of me holding a fistful of 20's just prior to this trip. $300 in my pocket, as I recall. Best vacation ever.
