  1. ^ Wonder if they will now be churning out bad news? Comic news, perhaps? Animated news? Will Pluto somehow be unleashed in Fox hunts to come? Oh well. Soon 99% of publishing houses are controlled by almost as few people as already control 99% of wealth. I don't have to ask what Donald thinks of that. (He's living proof that we feel free enough to don't care that we're not.) Ok. That thought was not random. I admit. It was inevitable.
  2. Great stuff! Can't believe I missed putting that one in the Ron thread I posted a while back.. Ron's the man. Love what he says about not fixing it. Very true. It should all be organic...
  3. Yeah.. to me that Spike story routine in general is rather tired, but I must say that May 1, 2012 one, is among the best ever! Really great way to introduce the song and to keep the story going at the end like that. Good version of the story too. After all, this is a song that, in a way, begs to be tangled up in some kinda storytelling. Fun fact: Just weeks prior to this performance TPATH had a few of their rare old guitars stolen from the "Clubhouse" in Culver City. No wonder then, that among the crooks and goons Tom tells of seeing inside the Cypress Lounge, there are not only "retired shrimp boat captains", but there are also... guitar theifs! Way to improvise, Tom! (Oh, and in case you wondered: the stolen guitars had been found and recovered by the time Tom performed this Spike version.)
  4. Well, I really start to take a liking to this Neil guy! 🙂
  5. So, Disney used to be about Mice and Ducks mostly, right? Now they think Fox is susch a great idea? And how would this effect Donald??
  6. Ah, yeah! (Yes!) That was an amazing ride! And one of the best ever plugs for a new album I've ever seen. I mean, that fantastic man is... Paul McCartney! (Something worth remembering when you see all these stars - young and old - with just 10% of his fame and legend, who are so full of themselves and their grand egos and make believe humbleness.) Oh.. and I want a jukebox like that!!
  7. Reminds me of what is sometimes said of Led Zeppelin in live jam mode... That sometimes they got so deep far into the zone, that Robert didn't even know how to get back into the song for his vocals. Sometimes he just left the stage and let them sort it out. Other times he just took his chances and wailed right back in. At least we know Tom would've never allowed that to happen.
  8. This time it really is. Don't be fooled (again)!
  9. It's way too much, is all. Don't make me explain my random thoughts.
  10. 41%? How is that humanly possible?
  11. 😂 Priceless! Another light humor casualty. I feel for both of you. The confusion. We've all been down that road. You should go for the heavy stuff, man. Tell real jokes.
  12. That's very kind of you! But really, I wish you didn't feel the need. I mean.. that's exactly what I'm talking about.. You DID use a smiley, remember. And still I somehow found a way to misread you apparently, and dig this silly hole for myself. Like I said, I'm used to stuff my own posts full with multidimensional meaning, subtext, attempts at humor (fun stuff!) and so on, that largely goes unnoticed. Have been that way for years, so smileys may not be where it's at after all. (Tell you the truth, I kinda don't even like them.) May be a cultural thing. Either way, I'm sure you and I are perfectly in agreement on the substantial stuff and very much enjoy the rest of it too. Not sure how this thread ended up here. Must have been something I said.. haha Here's for future good hearted discussions. And plenty jokes, too. Check the history of these boards for reference. Even what may look boring, may be a kneeslapper... what may look uptight, sometimes ain't. (The tone of this message is by design!)
  13. That's how I roll. Or.. you just caught me on a good day. What's between the lines, as always, is in the eye of the beholder. I'm glad your glad. Sounds like an interesting job! Kids will be kids. As will rock stars.....
  14. Tricky, yeah.. I suppose. As you very well proove. I certainly didn't mean to start all that. It's all good! Of course! Genuine interest here too, that's why I thought it worth a few words of distinction. Fun? Oh, yes! Almost nothing but fun, and I really mean that. (And for the record, I love sarcasm, if there was even just a pinch in there, I love it. It just seemed obvious to me there was some, since it's equally obvious to me that yes, there are good moments too to teaching/learning new stuff and that I don't think anyone here had claims to the contrary. I'm really sorry if I read to much into your post and opened this can by calling it possibly sarcastic. No worries. My own problem here is that people don't read enough into my posts sometimes, so it's ironic that I may have read too much into yours. I should know better than not sticking to the straight message. 😄 ) No, I wouldn't say better. Just different. My take is that the key to all of this, since the question was raised, is knowing your place. If you are there as a tool or as an equal, creatively. If the former you should expect and be expected to be told in detail what and how to do. (Although, if you are say MC, you may be asked to use your genius in any way you like, anyway, of course.) If there is more of an equal band creative situation, you may be a bit more rightfully upset if no one listens to you or no one thinks that your stuff is right. (Although, even here a little humble ability to take in ideas is necessary to move forward, surely. People being upset for life for being asked to hold on to a note for a second longer, may not be the most balanced person.) Even if there is no clear cut divide in these things - reality is often a mess of personal and professional relations and opinions - to me there is this general distinction between various angles from which you may enter a creative process. And that is really all I'm saying. It's always good to keep humble and open of course. To read between the lines, to give and take surely can't hurt, right? Neither can asking more or less rhetorical questions? True social activity takes social skills. At least that's what I heard. 😁
  15. ^ Do I sense sarcasm? 😶 Shame if I, of all people miss a good sarcasm.. Still, to me collaboration and instructing is two different things. To work together on something, equally, vs one person telling another how to do it. Very different situations. Of course the former does happen and of course it's great. No doubt. Again, the right people, with the right chemistry can be trusted to just guide themselves beautifully. People like to be part of that group dynamics I've noticed, and tend to smell trouble when used as a tool rather than a bandmate, is all I'm saying. Basically it's a good idea to have the setup clear, is it a band (complicated enough dynamics and different ideas) or is it more of a hired hand situation where you do as told. As long everyone know what game is played, it should be all good.
  16. Not sure, since I was out of town. But the radio did crank So You Wanna Be a Rock'n'roll Star for my breakfast, way to greet the day, hu?!
  17. Oh, sh#t. New lows each day. This man will be the end of us all. Or, rather - people nominating, electing and accepting him, letting this menace of a moron deconstruct much of civilization's slow moving progress and instead bring back all backwards dead end, hate driven and sectarian policies, will be the end of us. A new dark ages awaits us, and we all just silently (well?) let it happen. If there ever was a case of democracy demounting itself, it's the here and now of our time. That will be our legacy.
  18. What gives? I can find nothing that suggests any additional prints to the two originals (US/EU). Would be nice though, although there are other reissues/projects I'd rather see., personally.
