  1. I can only second what MJ wrote. Many people seemed to have gotten their front row tickets for their 80th birthday... Plus, security were very strict. They had extra personnel in the aisles where I was sitting (row 7) to keep the mob away from stage. Which is okay for me during the concert itself, but when it comes to the encore, I'm used to be allowed to run to the front for the encore. But there, not even that was granted... Oh well, I think times have changed. It was easy to scream, dance, drink and elbow your way through the concert when the ticket was 50 bucks. Now you're paying more than double and I believe people want to get the most out of this pricy concert experience, musically. Let's see what it will be like in Cologne and Mannheim. I can't wait to see the boys again!
  2. Go for it, Lizzie! I would if I had the chance to see Sonny Landreth play and sing!
  3. And we're all hoping it won't take him another 20 years to come back. I was really happy that a reputable German TV channel aired something about the concert. The anchorman was excited about Tom playing nine guitars that night. I thought, "what, only nine?? Must be on a string shortage..."
  4. Here's a short German TV snippet featuring live material from the concert : K-tlZ6n6O-8
  5. Thanks for sharing! The supporting act was Jonathan Wilson. I believe he's with them for the complete European leg.
  6. I just read it, too. Really happy he's with us farmers! And a big thank you to those who have worked on the gigography - it's obviously a great source of information for all of us, Heartbreaker or Farmer. ;-)
  7. A fan posted this front row photo. What a great shot!
  8. Here are a couple of photos for you. I didn't take too many and these are the best shots:
  9. The hand was shaking noticeably sometimes, at other times it seemed completely normal. I'm not sure he's really in pain, or if it's just some muscular reaction when he's playing certain chords...
  10. Mike had somebody from the Duesenberg people visit him before the show: Duesenberg Guitars ‏@Duesenberg_HQ We´ve visited @tompetty and the Heartbreakers yesterday in Hamburg. Mike Campbell asked Martin Huch for a Pomona demo. I'm back at home, tired and happy. MJ texted me this noon, she said she hadn't slept all night... If only I still had her energy...
  11. The quick resumee: After a great struggle to get a Taxi, I'm back at the hotel. Had the pleasure to meet MJ and buy her a beer (which she didn't like ). Looking forward to seeing you in Cologne! The band were as they always are - perfect! They play so well together, with such ease, it's astonishing. The setlist was no surprise, and I'm happy about it. Something Good Coming was so intimate, an instant favorite. My trip was more than worthwhile, I could have listened for many more hours. Thank you Tom, Mike, Ben, Ron, Steve and Scott!! A really nice side-story: Just before the concert, Benmont was so kind as to have a little Twitter to-and-fro with me. He noticed me during the concert and gave me a cheer. What a great guy. Cool feeling to be sitting with a crowd of about 15,000 whilst twittering with the pianist.
  12. Thanks everyone! I'm 10 meters away from Benmont. MJ is on her way. After 2 beers I'm feeling a bit more relaxed... ;-)
  13. Siting at Karlsruhe Airport , waiting for departure. I'm getting reeeeeally excited now.... Only a couple of hours now...
  14. Absolutely! It's very stylish! Now where is my old avatar...?
  15. I picked it up when I was in the UK. The article is a nice read. No more, no less. I still don't know if it was worth the 4.80 GBP I paid for it...
  16. This saddens me very, very much. RIP, Donald. :-(
  17. Hi from Wales! I've found a position with internet connectivity in the cottage. A rare treat! Was anybody able to download the stream?
  18. Thanks Marion! See Best of Everything section... ;-) Enjoy your concert and make sure Susan and yourself have a drink on me, I'll take care of the bill via PayPal!
  19. From A Window - Billy J. Kramer
  20. This is what Tom twittered a couple of months ago: Will you be doing "meet-&-greet"s during European tour? absolutely not, we never do. And this is what happens today: "The tour rolls into Austin, TX on Saturday May 5 for a show at the Frank Erwin Center and SiriusXM is giving fans of the band and Tom Petty's Buried Treasure Radio Show a chance to win a trip for two to Austin, front row tickets to the show, an autographed Buried Treasure poster, and a meeting with Tom before the show." WTF??
  21. What a great setlist! I would be absolutely happy with seeing this set at one of the German concerts! It'll be interesting to see if it varies from concert to concert. 7 more weeks of excitement... I think I'll have to quit coffee by the end of May... ;-)
  22. Congrats again, my Twitter friend! ;-)
  23. Okay, I listened to a couple of Jonathan Wilson's tracks. The music is quite good, but to me it feels like it just doesn't belong to Europe. It must be great listening to it in California, watching a spectacular sundown whilst consuming nature's own substances. :033: But here? I don't know. Maybe I'll have to try it again some time. To me, it felt misplaced. I was really hoping for Regina Spektor. Maybe that fact dulled the experience, too...
  24. Hey, Otto! You just got a retweet from the officials! Very cool! Will be in Hamburg, but on a tight schedule. Should have enough time for a beer though. Let's see...
