Since it has to be another country, somewhere close to the beach like the Italian Riviera or the South of France works! My husband and I stayed in a town called Kusadasi in Turkey and it was a little beachfront town - it was so peaceful. I'll choose that one.

1. Are you vacationing this summer (or season)? Yes 2. If you are, where are you going? If you're not, where would you like to go? We are taking a road trip to Texas (Dallas/Austin) to see family and for other reasons, so ultimately it doesn't feel like a vacation because it's not what I want to do (even though I do love TX), but we're trying to make it into one by driving and stopping places along the way. What I would really like to do is go and see my husband's family in upstate NY (Lake George area) or go to Hawaii. 3. Do you plan trips based on a budget or is vacation a time to splurge? These days it's all about a budget, though I don't like to feel too restricted. 4. Is a vacation really a vacation if you're staying with friends/family? It can be nice and fun to stay with family, but I like to have my own space and so I actually prefer staying in hotels rather than with family. 5. What makes a vacation special? Discovering new things - finding your way around town, enjoying the difference of how people do things compared to what you've known and sharing these experiences with whoever you are with and creating memories.

ah how did I miss this thread, these crack me up! You want the truth? You can't handle Tom Petty! - Few Good Men Frankly my dear, I don't give a Humdinger.... - GWTW I don't think you appreciate the gut reaction people have to these things...Ref! It's all psychological. You yell 'Barracuda,' everybody says 'Huh? What? ' You yell 'Dirty Knobs' we've got a panic on our hands on the Fourth of July. - Jaws

I confess that I don't know what to think about tomorrow and am a bit nervous...

Neither, though the kids would probably love a hamster.

Three: 2 personal emails - one of them my husband and I share and one is just mine. I also have one for work.

^ have a great time! I love that I just got called for a job interview when I least expected it - but it has also kind of thrown me for a loop. Why now? Oh well, doesn't hurt to interview, right?

^ that is so sad about your friend's mother Sharon...and Anna too (was she a farmer?) Ugh. I hate cancer. As for the stats, it would be interesting to know. I know doctors are very hesitant to do repeated MRI's on children due to the exposure to radiation from just that test....so it makes you wonder if they are so concerned about that, the actual use of it for treatment must really be difficult for kids to go through and the risks pretty high.

Here Comes My Girl - (???????)

this is a tough one - my husband would want batting cages, littlest son would want mini golf - older son would want water park and I could go for movies, bowling or amusement park. In the end, the amusement park would probably win.

Thanks for posting this Ref! I was thinking this morning that just in the Iraq/Afghanistan war, almost 5,000 soldiers have died and so many wounded. There's a lot of families remembering their loved ones today. As Beth said, bless them all. -

1. Have you ever called the police? yes, on neighbors when they still were going way too strong from a party at 4 in the morning........ 2. Name a movie that brings you to tears -- or as close to tears as you'll ever get: uh, I cry at everything...commercials... but some movies that come to mind are Sophie's Choice, City of Angels, Steel Magnolias, there are many, many, many more. 3. Chicken pox -- have you had them? yes, I was little and I still have a little scar on my nose from scratching it. 4. What is the kindest thing you've done for someone else in the last month? The question reminds me of this morning. My son and I were walking and he was behind me, and I went to pull back a branch that was in the way so he could get by but it slipped out of my hand and flew back and hit him in the face. It doesn't sound funny but the look on his face was priceless - and he said "thanks mom, thanks, that was very kind, thanks for trying to rearrange my face" - and we both started cracking up. Funny way to start the morning. You had to be there. 5. What is the most uncomfortable outfit that you have ever worn? probably shoes that were new and were really uncomfortable or trying to fit back into regular clothes after having a baby.

What will save rock 'n roll?

Ref, I miss vinyl too - though a lot of stores like Amoeba and stuff sell albums, but I don't have a turntable anymore - and I do like that crackle sound beebee (maybe I am just getting too old)..... oh Relic, don't you miss the big-ass album sleeves that had the lyrics printed on them and you could just sit down and read them along with the credits while you're listening to the album? The storage, I do agree with. Still trying to figure out what to do with the albums I do have...and I have lost quite a few over the years to heat damage as well. -
