A lot of younger kids--middle school kids--like her. I have never thought she sounded awful on her records, but all of her songs are beginning to sound alike (I think she sings in the same key for everything.) I did see her on one of the Country Music Awards Shows, and she didn't sound bad that night (maybe off key once and a while because she was running all over the stage). I don't understand why Chris Robinson would care unless it is like someone else stated--she is making more money than him. She did an impressive job on how she came to be a country star with Hoda on an NBC special--she has worked since she was very young for what she has gotten and she writes her own songs. I don't own any of her records (not my style exactly), but I don't see putting her down.
Last year, Taylor seemed to win most of the country female awards. Oddly enough for the next CMA awards that is coming up in the near future, she nor Carrie Underwood did not get the most female nominations--I think a total of 9 nominations went to Miranda Lambert. Even though Miranda has been around for a while, the song and video that put her on the map this year was "White Liar." If you have never seen this video and don't dislike country music completely, you might like it (even my son-in-law who doesn't like country music thought this video was good).
I just went and looked at two songs that Taylor did at the beginning of the New Orleans game. The whole performance was a little blurry, but she did not sound bad and she seemed to be on key 99% of the time. I thought she did really good--but then again I like country music.

Happy Birthday to my favorite keyboard player, Mr. Benmont Tench. Thanks so much for all the great music you have produced over the years and in the future. I hope you have a very Happy Birthday.

1. When is the last time that you switched from one company to another for a particular type of service? What made you make the switch? Did the company you were leaving even try to make you a better offer to make you stay? May--more service for less money; they questioned why I was leaving their service
2. What logo or saying was on the last coffee mug/drinking cup you drank from? None
3. Using a scale of 1 to 10, 10 being a world-class chef and 1 being someone who can’t even boil water, how would you rate your cooking ability? About a 2
4. Take this quiz: Are you a good cook?
You Are a Learning Cook
You've got the makings of an excellent cook, and the desire to be one.
But right now, you're just lacking the experience. You couldn't be a top chef yet, but you could be an apprentice.
(If I have the makings, how come hardly anything ever comes out right.)
5. When was the last time you prepared a meal or dessert for someone other than yourself or for those living with you? How was it received?
June--they said it was good.
6. Since it is that time of year, when all the new TV shows start their new season, which show(s) are you most looking forward to see? Which show(s) do you wish would just go away?
Dancing with the Stars and CSI--Las Vegas

From Jambands.com:
Benmont Tench, Zac Brown and David Hidalgo on New Kid Rock Album
Heartbreaker Benmont Tench, Red Hot Chili Pepper Chad Smith Los Lobos’ David Hidalgo and Zac Brown are among the guests featured on the new Kid Rock album Born Free. The album also features appearances by Chavez guitarist Matt Sweeney, Bob Seger, Sheryl Crow and Trace Adkins, as well as the unlikely paring of T.I. and Martina McBride on the track “Care.” Though a few performers recorded their collaborations elsewhere, the majority of Born Free was recorded live in an LA studio over a two week period by Kid Rock and producer Rick Rubin. The album drifts away from Kid Rock’s traditional sound: no rap, no metal and no parental warning sticker. The album is scheduled for release on November 16 via Atlantic Records.

I agree that is a really great picture of Benmont!

This is such a sweet story, and I hope Christopher helps other cats. Cats can sense when something is wrong with you. My sweet Milo always lays on my bed at my feet when I have a migraine (too bad he can't wait on me when I am so sick sometimes).

Hope you have had a very Happy Birthday!

My deepest sympathy and condolences to Carol's family.

I really like the pic of Benmont smiling--he looks so cute!

Go Joe Perry--after all Steven Tyler instigated the whole episode. I wonder if this is on YouTube yet.

Here is a new video about the Band of Joy and some articles from ContactMusic.
Video on the Band of Joy and its songs
Plant: 'Led Zeppelin Are No Longer The Real Led Zeppelin'
ROBERT PLANT has urged LED ZEPPELIN fans to stop dreaming of a reunion tour - because the band no longer exists.
The rocker reteamed with bandmates John Paul Jones and Jimmy Page for a 2007 tribute to music mogul Ahmet Ertegun and, though he admits the get together was a lot of fun, there was a sense the group was not what it was.
He tells Mojo magazine, "We could do it (reunion tour). We did it once. That was really the best Led Zeppelin gig since 1975, to me. But of course, it wasn't Led Zeppelin. Let's not forget that.
"That's why we didn't carry on (in 1980). This whole kind of adaptation of intent is part of the way it goes now at this time in older musicians' lives. Pink Floyd are Pink Floyd? No, they're not really.
"It (reunion) was amazing and remarkable, but to do that three or four nights a week..."
Plant & Krauss Will Team Up Again In The Future
Rocker ROBERT PLANT is convinced he and country star ALISON KRAUSS will team up for another record, despite deciding to go their separate ways after recording acclaimed album RAISING SAND together and touring as a duo.
Plant admits he and Krauss did try to record a follow-up but the songs they came up with during a four-day studio session weren't strong enough to warrant a sequel and the pair parted company.
The former Led Zeppelin star says, "We got together and it didn't work... The very nature of Raising Sand was it was accidental, and it was spectacular.
"Give it four days and you know, and if you haven't got it, go. That's exactly what we did, and it worked... (Producer) T Bone (Burnett) had brought the more poignant tracks and I'd brought the more rocky, shambolic things, and there was plenty for Alison to get her teeth into with the lyrical and melodic structure.
"The next time around, the songs weren't quite so evocative... so we looked at each other and we said, 'We'll have to try this later.'
"But I see her all the time and we will make another record together, I'm sure."

I was wondering what the songs from the Band of Joy would sound like. I have always loved Robert's voice and charisma. I found the following clip from Decca Records which basically sold me this album (I would have bought it anyway since I have all of Robert's albums).
Robert Plant Previewing and Talking about the Band of Joy
I truly liked many of the songs he previewed, so I hope the whole album will be good.

That is a great photo Beth! I always wondered if it was hard for Christian to learn survival skills in the wild after being raised in the loving, safe environment he grew up in. I know the documentary said he became a lead lion (I know it has a special name but I can't recall it), but I still wonder how hard it was for him to let his natural instincts take over.

Have You Seen Your Mother, Baby, Standing in the Shadow? - The Rolling Stones

1. Have you ever gone fishing? If yes, did you enjoy yourself? Yes one time when I was teenager, and it was probably the most boring two hours of my life.
2. Do you currently have an aquarium or fish bowl? No
3. Do you like to eat seafood? Not really--I can eat some shrimp and cod, and I really wished I liked it.
4. Have you ever seen "Free Willy"? No
5. What do you think of sushi? Just the thoughts of sushi turns my stomach upside down.

Patty, my deepest sympathy to you and your family. Losing a pet truly hurts, and Sage's final fight and days brought tears to my eyes. My heart goes out to you.

Everyone likes different people and music. I agree 100% with you Emmie--Chris Robinson and the Black Crowes are horrible.
