Save your money. If there really IS a benefit relating to a tour you can just sign up when the time comes. If they locked people out for not signing up by Dec 1st then everyone will raise a shit storm.

When I worked retail I saw tens, if not hundreds of thousands of dollars of merchandise trashed. DVDs, greeting cards (inked splattered on them purposely) and on and on.
The reason is they can't give out the stuff -- it is unfair. How would they choose who got what? And what about people profiting on eBay from it?
Sounds like you talked with an associate who didn't have a problem with it but didn't know Best Buys policy... which the manager did know.
