  1. Great points everyone. But there are 2 sides to every argument...

Commericals for his DVD on Best Buy? He's selling his own product not someone elses. Big difference.

One would think that his partnering with Best Buy enabled him to keep the price low on the DVD.. which is great. On the other hand if you want to split hairs his music was definitely used to promote Best Buy.. you could only get it at Best Buy!? That's not the Tom we know. I would have been willing to pay ~$10 more for the DVD if I could have gotten it anywhere.

Not using music to sell trucks, etc. is a great thing. If I was in his position I probably would not have the restraint he has... and capitalize on everything I could.

But are we forgetting how the NBA paid to use his music and video clips to promote the playoffs not that long ago? How is that much different then selling anything else?

It's the little things, you know? Like having to by Highway Companion again just a couple of months after buying the new cd just so I could get the 4 unreleased songs that were not available any place else.

    ^ good point.

If I were truly mad in any way I would have stopped being a "fan" long ago -- but I am just calling it as I see it.

  2. that was very interesting, especially the corporate comments. it will be nice to see the second part.

but poor Tom, everything he says always gets torn apart:

We don’t ... do commercials or anything.
So... those commercials on TV I saw for the documentary exclusively at BEST BUY weren't real?

On one hand he says it's virtually impossible to NOT "sell out," and on the other he says he hasn't.
