The History of MC

Mike Campbell's Bio

Mike Campbell has had an interesting life that started out very unassuming. Growing up in the southern U.S. Mike had your typical childhood. He spent his free-time playing with his friends, wrestling alligators, and hitting on the neighborhood honeys. His parents, always nagging him about his wild hair wanted the best for their son:

"All we wanted was for Mikey to grow up and have a GOOD job. There are too many deadbeats out there and our son wasn't going to be one! "

Mike never wanted to get an ass-beating from his pops so he stayed straight. He finished out high-school and started attending college in Florida. He was plugging along just fine until a long blonde-haired fellow propositioned Mike with a spot in a band. Mike, always quick on the guitar (did I mention he played the guitar?) impressed this person with his speed on the classic song "Johnny B. Goode." After the show of skill he didn't have a chance. The person (we will call him "Tom") practically forced Mike to join his band! Mike recalls:

"I knew my folks would be pissed but I went with my gut on this one. I mean the guy did seem like he was motivated to make something happen and how could I say no to that? Besides, even if it didn't work out I could always go back to college and make ammends with my folks."

Campbells' parents were steamed to say the least:

"What the f*ck did our son think he was doing? Going off playing that rock and roll. Give me a break."

Upbeat about his decision to pursue music, Mike did his best to make the band (Mudcrutch) as good as possible. Organizing Mudcrutch Farm festivals was a good way to do this and before long the band had a following.

The rest is history:

Now known as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Band moves to LA > Scores big with their first (and subsequent albums) > gets rich > the end?
