The History of MC

| Mike Campbell's Bio |
Mike Campbell has had an interesting life that started out very unassuming. Growing up in the southern U.S. Mike had your typical childhood. He spent his free-time playing with his friends, wrestling alligators, and hitting on the neighborhood honeys. His parents, always nagging him about his wild hair wanted the best for their son: "All we wanted was for Mikey to grow up and have a GOOD job. There are too many deadbeats out there and our son wasn't going to be one! " Mike never wanted to get an ass-beating from his pops so he stayed straight. He finished out high-school and started attending college in Florida. He was plugging along just fine until a long blonde-haired fellow propositioned Mike with a spot in a band. Mike, always quick on the guitar (did I mention he played the guitar?) impressed this person with his speed on the classic song "Johnny B. Goode." After the show of skill he didn't have a chance. The person (we will call him "Tom") practically forced Mike to join his band! Mike recalls: "I knew my folks would be pissed but I went with my gut on this one. I mean the guy did seem like he was motivated to make something happen and how could I say no to that? Besides, even if it didn't work out I could always go back to college and make ammends with my folks." Campbells' parents were steamed to say the least: "What the f*ck did our son think he was doing? Going off playing that rock and roll. Give me a break." Upbeat about his decision to pursue music, Mike did his best to make the band (Mudcrutch) as good as possible. Organizing Mudcrutch Farm festivals was a good way to do this and before long the band had a following. The rest is history: Now known as Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers - Band moves to LA > Scores big with their first (and subsequent albums) > gets rich > the end? |
