Please help me to understand TP...
Hi there,
On the XM Radio website, on Tom Petty's Buried treasure page http://www.xmradio.com/tompetty/index.xmc
there's that link to the ad for his show (here's the whole ad mp3 which is the same as on "listen to Tom" on the xm page above)
http://sharebee.com/02abbac6
Now I cannot make out what Tom says in the part where he begins with "So sorry if I'm guilty of poking..... " and finishes with "... wouldn't do it, we play..."
got you this bit in : http://sharebee.com/ebff7339
I hope all the links will work, this is my first trial
Thanks...
ps if anyone has a question in french or german I'd be glad to help

"I'm sorry if I'm guilty of poking fun at the south. And it's never been my intention.....I'm from down there myself you know...."
I think that is from season 1. From time to time he takes calls from made up listeners and they are usually kind of dumb and have southern accents. I think he does some of the voices himself. It's pretty funny. Maybe he got some complaints from southerners? I don't know!

Thanks Marion,
Poking fun ... never heard that expression before.
Sometimes the speed and accent together makes him difficult for me to understand.
But then I find that accents are so charming. I love it when Andie Mac Dowell speaks (I believe she's got a southern accent too). You'd probably roll on the floor hear me speak British English with a hint of french in it..
We Swiss are often "fun poked" by the French who speak so fast.
Do I have to close this thread now ?

Wildflower, I thing the German accent is very cute...I speak Swiss German myself (which is talk German with a couple of stones in your mouth) ... anyway just to say I am happy to be in the Farm wherever you live
Anyone from South America ?

Marleen, we do have Farmers from Canada, the United Kingdom, Russia, Nova Scotia, France, Germany and Spain. I'm sure I'm missing a few countries, sorry if I missed you. It is wonderful that this band has brought so many of us together.

It is very cool!
Christine, I wish we had kept that beautiful accent here in the US. It's so romantic.
It's amazing to me how many different accents have developed right here in the US. Even southern accents are different as you go from state to state in the south.

^ Oh yeah, hahaha!!! Don´t you have an accent, Wildy?
I don´t speak with an accent, but I´ve created words that don´t exist Well, I think everybody does that to make the languarge shorter and easier I guess.
I think there are even Americans who say, "She don´t". You can also hear that very often in songs, but I don´t really know why... you can´t be that lazy... lol
