Maybe I am overly-critical here, but why offer one grand-prize winner THREE sets of tickets? Why not offer THREE different winners ONE set of tickets to their choice of show. Spread the wealth people.

^ I always think of that when they have those Lotto jackpots, too, Mud.
Instead of one person winning 20 million, how about 20 people winning a
million?
Anyway......cool! I wonder when the next tour is going to be??

I got a little excited too when I read that! Hmmm...what do they have in store.
When you renew your membership, it is valid through the next major Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tour of 20 dates or more.
So....what if they do a intimate 19 date gig? ;)

Well, I'm wondering if those of us that renewed in the past couple of months are included. I'll find out, though!
I did find out that they turned off the renewal notice until after the movie was released because they didn't have the special offer stuff finalized. So I think those of us that renewed without any incentive should get TWO or MORE entries. lol.

Okay, here comes the little black rain cloud. Remember that contest they had a few years back? Someone was to win front row tickets to any concert of their choice? They didn't tour that year and they never announced who won.
Hmmm.....

I wonder if they will come to Nova Scotia. Really, Halifax (capital city here) is only an hour away. Well, he might go to New Brunswick.

Ok, so this is what I'm seeing...
When you renew your membership, it is valid through the next major Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers tour of 20 dates or more.
That means even if they decide not to tour for three more years we're still members until they do that 20 or more date tour.
So, sure, it's $30, but at least it will be good until we can use it - right?
also - (back me up on this one guys), when we entered the contest to win the poster, book and dvd, didn't sign away any rights to winning future contests - right? :)
erring on the side of caution and renewing right now!
POSSIBILITY OF A FUTURE TOUR = PRICELESS! :003:

Twenty shows or more? That could be awhile... I thought Tom said that he was only going to do limited tours. Does it include Mudcrutch?
I don't have XM; it might be worth it for the radio stream...

I wish, lol.
Lizzie, I actually emailed the webmaster and believe it or not I got a rapid response back. They said if you already had a membership, you're already entered into the contest. I'm thinking they didn't get alot of fanclub renewals. Hmmm, this is certainly a way to get them.

I'm confused. Thought they weren't doing any big tours anymore? I don't know what to do. I'm never eligible for any of the contests seeing as I'm not a US resident, so no doubt I wouldn't be eligible either for the front row contests. Would he even come to Toronto again? Last year was a last minute thing and a shocker. It's funny, this outfit and the tom petty fan club takes my money readily enough even though I'm outside of the US but yet, I'm not eligible for so much!

I just can't decide. Someone on the other bbs said well it's only $30.00, but still, $30.00 is $30.00 and a waste if I'm not eligible for anything. We don't even KNOW if they are going to tour.
Mudcrutch
10-31-2007, 12:53 PM
Save your money. If there really IS a benefit relating to a tour you can just sign up when the time comes. If they locked people out for not signing up by Dec 1st then everyone will raise a shit storm.

I agree, although if I won, I'd love all three sets of tickets. That's nice for those of us that usually go to three or more concerts a year, but what about the fans that aren't insane? Or the ones that can't go to more shows for a number of reasons. I wonder if transportation is part of the prize.

I'm thinking they didn't get alot of fanclub renewals.
When people said they were, I can't remember, entering a contest or whatever was going on around that time, without renewing the membership, I sent an email since I had renewed and I didn't think it was fair. He replied that they were asked to re-open the club to everyone temporarily for the contest.
Actually, I can't remember all the details and I deleted the email, but basically, the offers we just got weren't ready, so there was no big reason to renew, and they (the band? management?) wanted everyone to be able to enter the contest, so they just re-opened the club to everyone even though memberships had expired.

The 'official' TPATH 'Tour Date Magnifier'.
Unfortunately, it appears to be back-ordered at fanfire, but should become available shortly after the official tour announcement next year. :)
Until then, the consensus seems to be to continue the use of daily eye focusing exercises to prepare for reading that fine print :)

How funny, a friend who lives near Sheryl Crow just told me last night he swears he has been seeing Tom Petty (or a very close look alike) driving up to her house near Malibu in an old pickup truck. Maybe there is something that the two are planning on doing together. I do know Sheryl is recording right now at the same studio in Caspar, CA that TPTH recorded 'Surrender' and parts of The Last DJ. A recording studio called William's Place owned by Bill Batrell.
