Well, I found out Mudcrutch Farm and WilburyMania! were blocked. Not that bad in itself.

But last year, I remember seeing almost porno music videos in the fitness center in the junior high. This 20-something guy was on top of a 5 year old, and there were hundreds of bikini-clad teenagers dancing around them. The lyrics were VERY deogratory.

And also, EDUCATIONAL WEBSITES are blocked. Huh?

How do they justify this?

They block all proxies. I tried almost everything.

Another thing is, they block all web emails, to encourage students to use a school email address which only works half the time.

So you can't use websties to unblock stuff? I use 168tv.net I use it in front of my teachers all the time and they don't care.

I work in a school........don't get me started on what I'd do if I was running the school board........I'd ban ipods for one..! And that's just a start!

They don't allow ipods at my school, but of course kids still bring them, and even some teachers. I don't ever bring mine. The one day, and I do mena ONE day, I brought mine last year, it was stolen. My cross country coach doesn't allow them or any electronics on the team, and I really like that rule. Keeps us from being isolated from the team, and causes us to socialize and bond more. It annoys me to no end when kids on the team break the rule and sneak them on the bus. I seriously doubt anyone on the team loves music more than I do, and I go about the day fine without my ipod.

One thing I think the school should allow is kids to use cell phones at lunch. Sometimes I just need to get ahold of my parents, or who ever, and need to use my phone. Yea, they should be taken away if used in class, but why can't we use them at lunch?

How's a person supposed to get their rock music education without the farm?! Off with their heads and detention for them. In that order!

Actually, I have a little bag that I ALWAYS carry with me. There's just my CD player (which I never use in hallways or classrooms; only on the drive to school and the 'sensory room'), a few CDs, a notebook for song ideas, and Conversations with Tom Petty. I once took the bag during a fire drill.

LMAO! As a matter of fact I'm in the middle of my spanish class posting. It's great. On the wi-fi networks I can go anywhere, but on the actual school computers I can't go really anywhere. On the journalism computers I can go most place except myspace, which is fine by me. Teachers teaching? Nah! ;)

The only sites that are blocked from my school is myspace, livejournal, and facebook. Kids still get onto Myspace by clicking on a link from another website..... there has always been a way around the blocks. lol

Well, actually, I was finished my work when I tried logging on to here. (I was in the Learning Centre... which is basically just a class for me to catch up on my homework. I'm awful at working at home.)

They only make the forbidden sites more attractive by blocking them with their 'filters'.

As for banning music on campus, that sounds like the desperate act of a dying culture to me. Oh no, cant have people enjoying music, because next thing you know they'll want to dance, or sing, or compose music, or poetry, or create drawings.....

Reminds me how much I despised the School Administration when I was in High School (and again as a parent of a High School student). The teachers however were a Godsend. May they all live to be 200~!

It's not the music itself that's annoying, it's the lack of etiquette in using iPods and cell phones that lead to lame-ass bans. I think kids should be allowed to listen to music and make calls on their lunch break, just not during instructional time. Schools already have too many nitpicky regulations to enforce- why make it even less appealing to be there ?
