Well a couple of days ago I spoke to someone at a Barnes and Noble here in Sacramento. She told me they definitely had the book. So I'm going later today to see for myself if they actually physically have it there. I don't trust these people on the phone.

I came home today and a package from Chronicle Books was waiting for me. I haven't had a chance to really get into it but I love the yearbook style. I want to have my friends sign it like high school.

I've just browsed through it but the pictures look fantastic. I've got to find time to settle down and read it from page to page. Can't wait for the DVD to get here.

I ordered it from Chronicle after Fanfire emailed me to say it was on back order, I think it was on the 4th. I figured that the publisher would probably not have it go out of stock as quickly as Fanfire (do they ever have anything in stock?). Also, Chron books is right down the street so I could always go over and demand my book in person if my order got messed up.

For anybody in the SF Bay Area, Chronicle Books has a store at the Metreon. It's not big and I haven't been there for a couple of weeks so I'm not sure if the book is on sale there. I'll try to check it out tomorrow.

I went to the Chronicle Book store at lunch and they had a couple of copies. But there was no advertising out for it at all, the book was just on the shelf like all the others. I was hoping for some kind of flyer or ad stand or something that I could steal, I mean, um, ask for.

What was really odd is the store was completely empty, not a clerk in sight. I could have walked off with their entire merchandise and nobody was there to stop me.

My flu was very short lasting, only 4 days. Flus usually last much longer with me so maybe the flu mist was a good thing after all. I'll know next winter when the flu is going around and I don't get sick. Thanks for asking after me, Linda!

Thanks to Marion I had been working two jobs last week and had come in and pulled my shoes off when she reminded me of the DVD I put my shoes back on and out the door I went running down a dream I went in to best buy wrapped my arms around the standup and kissed it and proclaimed I did it hehehe they gave me the standup I bought book ( which was hidden on a shelf ) there was 2 books left . They should have been marketed togeather. The DVD was well placed as soon as you walk though the door :heart: I totaly enjoyed the next few days priceless TPATH Thanks for the music !

I found some yesterday in Greensboro, NC! I grabbed it and started jumping around in the Best Buy. When we took it to the clerk I said "I'm so glad you guys have this...no one else does." She just looked at me like I was nuts and I grinned and said, "It doesn't take much to make me happy!" She still just looked at me....sigh. I love it - it's so great!

The other day I stopped by the drug store and I was wearing my TPATH t-shirt. There was a young man behind the counter that looked kind of scary with wild jet black hair, tattoos and a lip ring. As I approached, he said, cool! When did you see Tom Petty? I love Tom Petty! I said, oh, only like a zillion times! haha! Then I proceeded to tell him all about the new movie. He was excited to hear about it. I thought he was pretty cool! There is hope for our youth.

That's so weird that the US Best Boys sell books and the Canadian outlets don't. I haven't seen this book anywhere here yet. Plus, none of our radio stations have mentioned a word about the DVD or book. Mind you, our stations don't play anything from Tom Petty in any case since Learnin' To Fly came out.

Same here...I felt like a total dumbass. And the Best Buy I go to sells books! I got the Beatles Anthology book there. I was just so happy to see the DVD set display somewhat close to the door and 18 copies already gone by last Tuesday afternoon!

Will have to make a sweep of the area next time I'm in that part of town.

I called Best Buy in Lakeland today hoping they would have it so I could go pick it up on my lunch hour and they told me they didn't have the book. But my friend stopped by the store this evening on her way home tonight to check for it in person and sure enough, they had it! Arrrrrrgghhh! She picked it up for me and I will have it tomorrow! I don't know how I will be able to work with it sitting there. I might have to go put it in the car. But, YAY!!! My friend was so excited! She's been listening to me talk about this book for weeks!

I guess it's worth a trip to Best Buy, right?

The Best Buy that I frequent had three copies on the shelf when I was there tonight. I almost bought one, but they were all pretty beat up with bent edges and smudges all over the dust jackets. I have one on order, so I decided to wait. I did look thru it and it is beautiful! Then I went a few doors down to Barnes & Noble and they did not have the book or the DVD set. Hurry up FanFire!!

I kept peeking at it. I just took it to lunch with me and left it in the car. I read a few pages and looked at the pictures. It's a beautiful book. Very well done and I love the cover! It's black and textured with the Heartbreaker's logos. Very nice touch! It's well worth the $30.....heck, it's probably worth $50 it's so pretty!

I hope everyone finds their copies very soon!

Here's my book saga. I originally placed a preorder with Amazon, which is showing a delivery date of Nov 9. Last week when people started reporting that they were finding it, I hit Best Buy, a local bookstore, Barnes and Noble and Borders - no books, but they all seemed to agree it was being released today (10-25) or in the case of Barnes and Noble, it had already been released and they didn't know why it wasn't on their shelves yet. Barnes and Noble was even going to text me when it came in. As of this morning, no text. I went to Borders, where they said the book has been released but they still don't have copies. On a whim, I hit Best Buy again and discovered three copies on the shelf! So I picked one up and canceled my Amazon order when I got home.

Can't wait to look it over!

I went to a KC Best Buy yesterday and the dust jackets are in abominable shape as well. But there are so many cool pics in there.

I think I'll try Amazon next. If I don't get the book until next year, that's okay...it'll be something neat to look forward to!

I called Barnes & Noble in NYC and they told me that I could return the book at the store, but they're out of stock. So, I went online and spoke to a Customer Service Rep and I'm in the process of getting a new one. When I receive the label, I will return the damaged one. In fact, the new one is being shipped out today....

The one here was a little bit farther from the front door...but still pretty visible. I just wanted to stand by it for a while. Last week when I went back for the book the DVD display was already gone! They had trashed it less than nine days after it came out!!! I could not believe it! :085:

OT: All of this irritation with the book reminds me of when I tried to get the Soundstage DVD from PBS. They lost my check and I went around and around with them until they finally just gave me the thing for free. But it came out in early July and I didn't get mine until between Benmont's and Ron's birthdays.

I finally got it!!! Wow...it's NICE. They double-trucked my favorite shot from my favorite video.. I'm happy! I think there are a lot of photos I haven't seen before. Some I've seen, but they've never look so good. I'll definitely spend some time on it tonight.

With all that has been going on lately in my life--work, Junior , a wreck--I had forgotten about the book!!! Doh! So thanks, y'all for posting (and not spoiling!)
I went down to the local Barnes & Noble and got my copy today. When we got home CurmudgeonDoug and I sat and thumbed through the marvelous tome while listening to early TPatH.

I just got an Email from Fanfire and they said that they didn't anticipate the number of request for the book. And Mine will be shipped when they get their next order from the Manufacturer in about
3-4 weeks. How do you put it up on the Fan Website and not have enough in stock? Oh Well, I guess I'll just wait and be patient for it.
Bummer, but I can wait.

I got my copy over the weekend at borders. I had a gift card from last christmas, so i ended up only costing around $16.00 ! wow...i've beenr eading through it skipping her and there. I wished that it was done closer to the beatles chronicles book though with recording dates, and gear info., etc. The pictures are nice. Some are ones i've seen on cd's, that are so tiny its like seeing them for the first time. Its amazing how few books there are on these guys considering their long career.

In terms of the pics in the book... I love all of the them but one picture really took my breath away and I was like... :eek: Damn, I need this as a poster! I´ve never seen any pictures from the Mary Jane´s video besides the screenshots I made myself. I searched everywhere but never found ANY. So that one from the book made me very happy. I LOOOVE IT. It absolutely reflects the feeling of the video and captures the caracter that Tom is playing so well. That look on his face. So sweet and innocent. Also kinda curious. And sad of course. Kim looks so pretty. I´m gonna write an interpretation about that picture or even about the whole video! LOL I guess I´m obsessed with it :icon_scared:
I was also a little disappointed that they didn´t mention their (in my opinion) best video in the documentary. It´s not just a video, it´s artwork and a true classic. I´ve never heard Tom saying a word to it and this makes me even more curious about it and it makes the whole video even more mysterious, lol. I can´t describe what a beautiful and exceptional feeling it gives me. No, I´m not a necrophiliac, lol!
And god damn, I want to know from Kim how it was like to be carried by Tom Petty in that beautiful wedding dress. :003:
