Arg! It was just requested yesterday that I come to London in December (part of filling in for my ex-boss). With the holidays, I just don't know if I can do this show too.

But I haven't completely ruled it out yet. I really, really, really, really want to go!!!

Depending on traffic, I am guessing 2 hrs from LAX, 30 minutes from Santa Barbara.

It's a little more than 2 hours from LAX and about 45 minutes to Santa Barbara.

Thanks expert, for straightening me out on that one. :) I was looking at hotels and saw one in Lompoc. How far is that? We are debating on staying somewhere nice in or near Santa Barbara, or somewhere not as nice closer to the gig (Buelton or Solvang). The casino would be nice, but $300 plus? And anything right in the wine country area itself is expensive.

surfnburn
10-09-2007, 06:38 PM
I would wait and see what happens. December is a long way off. A lot can happen between now and then..

Refugee
10-09-2007, 08:49 PM
Athena, Lompoc is about 27 miles East of the Maverick Saloon. They have some nice hotels and some nice restaurants, but not much else, lol.

I think the only place to stay in Buellton is Pea Soup Andersens or the Marriotts.

Solvang has some really nice hotels. Very Danish and has some great little restaurants.

There is also Zaca Creek and Los Olivos, but like you said, the wine country can be a bit pricey.

Relic

Was just wondering......

Given the country theme of the bar and all, do you think the Knobs will dust off a version of the theme from 'Rawhide' for the gig? ;)

Never been to the place but am picturing chicken wire across the stage, and a lot of cowboy hats in the audience :D

Mavericks is Santa Ynez. Everything is a bit pricey and I wish I had space for you all, but I just don't and it sucks....
The audiences varies depending on who's playing. Sometimes there's a lot of cowboys, others hip hop. It's really cowboy western style, though.

But I may have an idea. Let me look into a few things:)

The Knobs as part of the tribute show. They played Incidental Hygiene and My Shit's Fucked Up. LOL, they found the second on YouTube and thought it was funny, so they picked it for the tribute. You can find it there. I have to admit, I'd never heard it.

HAHAHAHAHA!! These are interesting lyrics.

(Warren Zevon)

Well, I went to the doctor
I said, "I'm feeling kind of rough"
He said, "I'll break it to you, son [Warren sings, "Let me break it to you, son"]
Your shit's fucked up."
I said, "my shit's fucked up?"
Well, I don't see how-"
He said, "The shit that used to work-
It won't work now."

I had a dream
Ah, shucks, oh, well
Now it's all fucked up
It's shot to hell

Yeah, yeah, my shit's fucked up
It has to happen to the best of us
The rich folks suffer like the rest of us
It'll happen to you

That amazing grace
Sort of passed you by
You wake up every day
And you start to cry
Yeah, you want to die
But you just can't quit
Let me break it on down:
It's the fucked up shit

Hi.

Surfnburn sent me here from the Zevon bulletin board. Thanks!

The song's actually 'Sentimental Hygiene' (not Incidental) in case anyone wants to go looking for it. SH is also the title of the album from 1987.

The song My Shit's Fucked Up is on the Life'll Kill Ya album (circa 2000) and it's NOT listed on the back of the CD case. That was WZ's little joke.

Thank you for your support.
