They allowed minors last time, as long as they stayed away from the bar area. I'm not sure if they were making an exception that weekend or not.
I'm also wondering if Dale at Grand Entertainment will be handling tickets again? I assume making dinner reservations will be needed for a table.
I'll be going by myself (both nights), so if someone wants to split the cost of a hotel room, let me know.

Relic and I are leaving on a roadtrip to the Sierras that Saturday morning, but I think I came up with a way to make it the first night. What a great way to start our vacation that is going to end with a music festival :)

Okay Farmers/Knobettes and Knobbers -
Here's the latest information -
Cozys is going with a different online ticket company. Customers can print the tix they purchase from Cozys on their own printer.
Tickets are available CASH ONLY at the club now and tix can be purchased online by 5/21/09, probably sooner.
Please be patient, they are waiting for this new company to activate their account and to design the tickets.
I will receive a flyer with all the information, soon!

Have to think on this one. Maybe the Friday night show to see Susie. Meeting another band the on the 14th in Arizona and wanted to go camping with my dog and visit the Hopi reservation. Might just feel like resting when we get back.
At least we have a few days to think about it. And Friday night isn't a school night mid-summer.

I have Pawie. Not for years. Think '93? And in answer to the other question, yes, Oraibi is documented to be the longest inhabited town in North America. It was where the tribe finally settled after hundreds of years of migrating. Can't wait to go back. I have spent more time on Second Mesa and am going to visit an old friend there when we go.
Ok. I am going to buy one Friday night ticket just in case I do feel like driving in that night. It would be nice to see everyone at least once this tourless summer.

There's the Surfliner between SD and LA.
http://www.venturacountystar.com/news/2009/may/10/amtraks-surfliner-is-great-way-to-see-some/
"I’ve taken the Surfliner many times down to San Diego to start a cruise. Watching those poor devils in their cars stuck on the 405 while you relax on the train sets the perfect tone for the start of a stress-free vacation."
http://www.amtrak.com/servlet/ContentServer?pagename=Amtrak/am2Route/Vertical_Route_Page&c=am2Route&cid=1081256322013
It makes stops in Burbank and Van Nuys, close to Sherman Oaks (check the station maps), the San Diego station looks close to the Westin, too.
Makes me want to take a coastal vacation on it. I love trains.

I'll print some up, incorporating a Farm logo, if you guys are serious about this. It sounds kinda fun.
I can bring preprinted blanks to be filled in, but if you want one preprinted with your username and/or name, just let me know, I can do that.
Thanks Linda, for the suggestion. :023:

Marcia, your name tags is a wonderful idea.
Credit where it's due: It was Linda's idea (Thanks!), but I'm running with it. I almost have something worked out that I like.
I have found 2 1/3" X 3 3/8" blanks - smaller than the obnoxious "Hello, My Name Is" type of sticker, but large enough I think, to write a name onto, plus the graphics. Also, my idea right now is to make the design so it's vertical instead of horizontal. (If you don't think your username will fit a 2 13" space, there is room to write it in diagonally.)
I also found opaque Pilot markers for cheap at the same site, so I'll bring at least half a dozen each night, as they are bound to find new homes - as much as I'd like to keep them for next time (that's a hint). ;)

I've noticed that when Mike plays there seems to be an extra plug between his guitar jack and the guitar 1/4 inch phone plug on the end of his guitar cable. You can see it in the videos of him with the Heartbreakers and also Dirty Knobs so I'm assuming it's a regular part of his gear. This extra "thingie" seems like it's part of the guitar phone plug but it looks like it's twice the size of a regular phone plug. Has anyone else noticed this? Any ideas what it is?
angelic_22
06-10-2009, 09:48 PM
Welcome to the Farm Ace!
I went back through a number of photos - some of which did a pretty good job of showing the guitar cord and how it was plugged into the guitar Mike was playing at the time, and all I see is a plug - sometimes I see what looks like some strain relief built into the plug - (looks like a coil of wire that extends down from the bottom of the plug a little - the cable runs inside it as it enters the plug and the coil of wire supports the cable and keeps it from getting pinched or bent real sharply against the connector)
Can you give me a link to a photo where you saw what you saw? If Its one I took I might be able to enlarge the area in question to give a better view.
maybe. its some sort of fuse link , Mike is electricflying on the on the
guitar lol

I'm staying at Days Inn. I'm rooming with 2 other people, and we haven't made arrangement yet for who is driving to Cozy's, but my Jetta holds 4 (realistically), 5 if you don't mind being squeezed for the 1 1/2 mile drive.
I'm pretty sure a couple others are staying there as well who are driving in. (Maybe the bands should just set up poolside instead :) ) I don't think there should be a problem catching a ride and parking is ample across the street from the bar.

I can't sleep so I'm in the hotel lobby on a computer, lol. What an awesome night of music!!!!
First Romeo Delta rocked the house with some old favorites and some new songs. They have a new bassist and although very quiet, he was a great addition to the lineup. Loved that Duesy bass he was playing, what a pretty toy.
Taking us to another level was the Hammerheads!! WHOO HOO! The energy this band put out was so catching. You have to see them live to understand.
Then the Knobs blew this Knobette away!!! SOOOOO many new songs! I gave Marion my setlist, so I'm not sure of all the new song titles. But, this has to be one of my very favorite gigs. I can't stop smiling. :003:
They played a few songs I know - London, Working Class Hero, Every Little Thing, Feeling High, Goldfinger, Sang My Balls Off/Deal.
Mike - thank you so much for Every Little Thing.

Great pictures and reviews. I'll have some more to post later. All I can says is this Knobette if thrilled to the bottom of my soul. That was one of the best shows I've seen from any band anytime. GREAT new songs. Very exciting and funny dirty lyrics. Love those guys. A song called Who Woulda Thunk was hilarious!
Here is the set list as typed. I'm not sure if it varied any. They usually do. Someone kept hollering for Diamond Head last night and Mike said he'd play it tonight! Wouldn't that be a thrill?
Goldfinger
All She Wrote
Just Wanna Love You
London
Unfinished Business
Balls Off/Deal
Who Woulda Thunk
Bad Boy
Sunburst
Working Class Hero/Hide Love Away
Feelin' High
Ride My Pony
Rollin' Home
Everybody
Every Little Thing
Standing On The Mountain
Walking Shoes/Feed The Snake
Sweet 16/Lupe/Anyway
And In know they played:
Loaded Gun
Anna Lee
Just an amazing set. Swampfox was hot, HOT, HOT! Love it when he gets to sing. This band just totally blew me away.
I must say that Romeo Delta and the Hammerheads gave me a thrill too. I love their music so much and they sounded so tight. Great guitars, bass and drums. Dave is coming so alive as a front man and blows a great harp. They are totally entertaining. They are all very nice young men too and didn't mind stopping to talk to fans. I think one day we're going to say we knew them when the played this little bar in Sherman Oaks. I'm looking forward to hearing more from them.
Oh, and the Hammerheads had a demo cd for $5. I haven't had a chance to listen to it yet but look forward to it.

One extremely long day, two plane rides, and one beautiful ride on the Amtrak Pacific Surfliner from San Diego & I've arrived at the Days Inn. Whew! Must rest up for tonight. PM for room number, etc.
P.S. I actually posed this at 4:05pm PST...

This guitar is autographed by all the Heartbreakers. It was being given to someone in the audience for a special cause. I think Mike played it on 1-2 songs.

Man, I said that Friday night was the best show ever but Saturday night blew it off the charts. They were on fire! I love it when the audience and the band become one and you can hear a pin drop during the songs. The show was on the highest level of perfection on Saturday.
I just got home and I am worn out from only having 5 hours of sleep this weekend so I'll have to come back later to tell a few stories and share some pictures.

Thanks for posting the Friday photos and the story on the white strat, seltaeb! I didn't take many that night and they were nothing special.
Marion, you are soooo right about Saturday night.

Phew. I haven't had time to check my photos yet, but I don't think I need to. The ones up already totally make the bands justice.
Marion, you nailed exactly what I feel. Saturday was an explosive massive Rockfest and the bands on fire.
The Knobs with new songs are amazing. I just LOVE their music more and more each day. (did anyone btw get the last line of the "dog song"?) My hearing went down for that for some reason ;-) (ca be pm'd) TY.
As for Hammerhead and Romeo Delta. Two different sets with some members the same and so different music. Both amazingly skilled.
The frontman in Hammerhead, (forgive me for forgetting names) was so full of life. Dynamite. The played tight and with confidence. And very attentive and nice to old 'grandma fan' who asked for autographs....
I honestly believe Dave Glow has a future in showbusiness one way or the other. He is an entertainer, not only a musician. It was nice to see him on bass in Hammerheads and then give it all up front in RD.
Great job rocknrollbastard :)
A special cyber hug to Mike who made me have to swallow a little extra in the end last night when the band came in for encores. He is such a humble man and his love for the music was so obvious. He thanked US, the audience, but without HIS music and band none of this would have happened. (Swallowing again)
So Thank YOU Mike:)
Beth,
I got both messages but didn't have my puter. I was thinking of you. Next time:)
From an exhausted Pawie, over and out from Santa Ynez:)
Both shows were absolutely phenomenal! The Knobs were of course in top form, and played quite a few new songs that were a lot of fun! I was lucky to catch both Romeo Delta and the Hammerheads for the first time too, and I was totally blown away. These guys have SO much potential...I can see them going very far. Incredible music, wonderful times...and it was fantastic seeing everyone again and meeting some others for the first time. Really warm atmosphere, it was a totally perfect weekend. :)
