Zombie Zookeeper

In my attempt to start posting more often, here's a little story. This actually happened last summer, but I just found the pictures so I thought I'd share. Last July, my boss.. who I've worked for on and off for the last ten years, took his kids to California for a week. So, while he was on vacation, I decided to mess with him. I've always kinda been known for pulling pranks on people (harmless pranks), and it was just his time. So while he was on vacation, I gathered a few fellow co-workers, and we re-decorated his previously plain boring tan office.
About four of us came in on our only day off, we're always closed on Mondays... and we put a lot of un-paid work into painting his office bright pink with purple polka-dots. The pictures do NOT do it justice. Then I went to Wal-Mart and spent about $150 on really tacky back-to-school girly college dorm room stuff... which most of was later returned for my money back. It was great! For those of you that don't know, I work in the kitchen of a private golf club. It was funny because the club general manager would bring members into the kitchen to see the pink office, and they would just all laugh. Although everyone thought it was funny, nobody really knew exactly how'd the Chef would react when he returned. I was 90% sure he would think it was funny, but then tell us to fix it. But there was that small part of me that thought we might just loose our jobs over it. Most of the other employees thought he'd be pissed. I guess I just felt I knew him better. Even the normal delivery guys were worried about how he'd react.
Luckily... I was right. His first reaction wasn't really a reaction at all... he was just shocked. He just sat there are stared at the walls not knowing what to say. It took him about a day before he really started laughing about it. But he did fess up and say that it was a great prank. He just couldn't believe we'd go through all the trouble to do that. But then later he even brought his kids in to see it. So after a few days he said something like, "Ok that was funny, now fix it". I told him no, that he had to look at it for a few weeks. And that's what happened. His office was bright pink for a good month until we went back in on one of our Mondays and repainted it back to boring tan. Of course, we're not professional painters so even today you can see small areas of bright pink lurking in corners. I wish I had taken a before pic, but I didn't.
Anyway, we all still work for the guy, but oddly enough, he hasn't taken a vacation since :) With paint and supplies, I think it cost maybe $60 to do... well worth the time and money to me.
