That was one fantastic show last night. These guys are HOT! HOT! HOT! :045:

LOL, Sharon, you ARE a concert ho!
I just got home and I'm pooped, but last night was amazing. I turned to Marion at one point and said, "anyone who would call out for Free Fallin' is a (expletive) idiot." I love the HBs, but I was not for one second thinking of HBs songs or wishing they would play some. Mudcrutch has an identity all its own.
other than a couple mediocre numbers (Oh Maria, Queen of the Go-Go Girls), the songs were great. The Wrong Thing To Do seems to already be a crowd favorite, and I totally dug Topanga Cowgirl and Bootleg Flyer.
Tom Leadon can definitely hold his own on guitar next to Mike (who is still the number one guitar hero), and Randall Marsh is a solid drummer (he apparently lives in Ojai, and had a large cheering section in the theatre). Benmont was quite charming, and I loved seeing Tom P on bass -- he's a natural.
Barb and I left the others waiting in line at the Ventura Theatre (sure wish I could have stayed), and I'm sure they're in for another treat. it was such a blast to hang out with everybody, and so nice to meet Katie, Lizzy and the other ladies.

Are you kidding? It was flowing quite freely and thickly back in my section! I even saw people passing it around the crowd, like the old days. LOL
The show was fantastic. There were a couple of songs that were
just okay but for the most part they ripped it up and the crowd
(at least in my part of the theater) were digging it. "Scare Easy" "The Wrong Thing To Do" and "Rainy Day Women" were the top hits of the
night I think. Oh, and "Summertime Blues" rocked the roof right off the place! That Benmont was just on fire all night. And all the boys seemed to be just having so much fun.
It was a BLAST seeing you all again, and to meet a few new people, too.
(Athena and Gina & Katie, you can start the Tom Leadon fanclub - I'll start my own for Randall Marsh! :045:)

I just got home and I'm pooped, but last night was amazing. I turned to Marion at one point and said, "anyone who would call out for Free Fallin' is a (expletive) idiot."
LOL....well said!!!
I only have a couple of minutes to write something about the show.. Wow....it was just great! I'm so glad they're playing this music. We knew about the band's influences, it's soooo cool to see their beginnings in person. I can go on and on about Mike, Tom and Benmont. I'm always trilled by them. And Benmont's singing is such a sweet surprise. He must have had that in him a lot of years. I love all of the musical territory. The new guys are great! Randall rocks! Tom Leadon has a really great bluegrass voice, it goes so well with the songs. Like Gina says, his guitar work is right there with Mike's.
I have to say something about the Knobettes. Tom Leadon mentioned the Dirty Knobs in his intro to Mike, and there was a huge cheer. It was so cool! There was quite a Knobette presence in the audience. I enjoyed seeing old and new friends. You guys rock!
My one last thought is that they should keep "Bubbles" in the go-go girls story...LOL
I have a few dark, grainy photos that'll post if nothing better appears here in a fews days. They have better shots at the official site.

Hey all,
My wife and I went to SB to see MUDCRUTCH for our 9th anniversary. What an amazing show! We got our tix through Mike Campbells dog rescue charity, tazzyfund. Great tix, amazing show and a good cause.
I agree with the previous messages, Mike and Benmont were on fire. Tom was his usual, the coolest guy in the room. Loved the set. I have had a permanent smile on my face ever since. We can't wait for the Troubador (Thurs) show!

Ummm... okay. Well, as per my last message on another forum, I had agreed to jump no the bandwagon of Mudcrutch fans - - not that I ever objected in the first place, just wanted to hear different voices on the matter - - but now, I almost have to yell out Free Fallin' and hope that you and your honey will be there to call me a (expletive) idiot to my face! Good times! Why can't someone enjoy what they are seeing/doing without worrying about other people who aren't enjoying it on their level? Beats me - but who cares. Tom Petty rocks!! I'm there to see him and his buddies!!
Glad you liked the show - try liking it without hating on others and see how your life changes -

I know you’ve been asked this a million times since the tour’s been announced, but here’s a million and one: Any chance of hearing some Tom Petty songs at the show? Please?
MC: [Laughs.] Sorry. It’s true, there’ll be no Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers songs played — all Mudcrutch songs, but the band does do some cool covers.
BT: Even if we wanted to play some Tom Petty & the Heartbreakers, songs we don’t have the time to learn ‘em!
Gotta love Benmont! LOL!

I couldn't agree more to all that's been said. The concert was AWESOME Not that I knew most of the songs played, but I was so into the music it doesn't matter. The first song just knocked me off my feet and I didn't get back up the entire evening.
Tom L and Mike sure did some great toe to toe work and the Leadon blood sure showed in TL's work. I could hear the bluegrass roots Bernie has as well.
BUT alas.... though I had a ticket for Ventura I had to turn it down. Shoot me, Marion!! But you know... Not only was I way too busy to go. I got floored by a fulminant migraine as well. That had not been good to have on the road.
Troubadour - I will try for that one instead:)

I only have a couple of photos from the show. I was a little far back in the 11th row center but still my seats were fantasic. We were almost in the center. Gina and I could see great, especially because most of the people in front of us sat down all the way to the front row the whole time. I will never understand how people can stand to sit down when the band is rockin!

Our Katie didn't sit down though. I can see her over to the right.
Anyway, the show just blew me away. I was just thrilled with the songs...every single one of them.
Benmont was so bouncy and happy and he did great on his song.
Randall is a fantastic drummer. I love his style.
Tom Leadon is really good! I never knew!! I guess I just always thought when we listened to those old boots that it was all Mike but I can see now he was a very big part of that sound.
Tom is having the time of his life. I think he smiled more than anyone. He's just tickled and I LOVE seeing him play bass.
Mike....oh Mike. I love that man and I was so proud of the reaction he got from the crowd when Tom L. mentioned the Dirty Knobs. That was the coolest!!! Plus, the Knobettes know Bootleg Flyer from the Knobs so we were even more thrilled to hear it! They rocked it out!! Again, Tom Leadon was impressive! WOW!
The songs were just fabulous. It's hard to pick my favorites...I started to list them out but I just started putting all of them down! Crystal River is just a gorgeous peice of music. I'm really loving Topanga Cowgirl and House of Stone too. I loved everything!! Oh and I was thrilled to hear Please Come Home. That song is floating around on a Mudcrutch boot somewhere and I've just always loved that tune.
I better get to Ventura.....

This was a great show! We were in the left section in row M but it is a small place so the seats were pretty good. Our whole section pretty much stood the whole time. Everyone was really into it...that's easy with this band whether you have heard their songs or not! :)

My wife and I went to SB to see MUDCRUTCH for our 9th anniversary. What an amazing show! We got our tix through Mike Campbells dog rescue charity, tazzyfund. Great tix, amazing show and a good cause.
I suppose you were next to Zombie and I, then (row G). If so, thanks for standing up all night with us. We had sitters all around, but we just persevered. John said when the lady behind him said to sit down, he told her just stand up. LOL.
This was such a FUN weekend! Just what I needed with all that has been going on. First, it was great to spend time with Athena, Susie and my awesome concert buddy, Kay. We always have a great time and this was no exception.
It was great seeing so many Farmers, and really nice to finally meet Gina, Teresa, Lotta and Ellyn in person (did I forget anyone else?). We had quite a group there! Katie, your mom is a blast. Tell her hello for me.
The concert was fantastic. As I've been saying to some, this is the answer to the hard core fan's desire to see something different by our favorite guys (plus or minus a few). It was thrilling to hear SO MUCH new music! You realize just what amazing musicians these guys are when you hear something totally new and not the same stuff we've heard 1,000 times. It rocked me to my socks! Everyone seemed to be having the best time, us and the band. I'm sure Tom P, Mike and Benmont are enjoying this freedom as much as we are.
Tom L and Randall are just amazing. I keep thinking of something Kay said. How much fun would it have been to see this band back in the day at the local Gainesville spots? Wow, I can only imagine how much fun that must have been. They are so good together!! I'm just glad they reunited and treated us to this mini tour (and fingers crossed they'll be able to do more in the fall).
So, my very favorite song is Crystal River. I'm so glad to read that the album version is very much like what they play in the show. That song is so completely different than anything TPATH does, and it's an amazing showcase for Ben and Mike. It just blows me away listening to the interaction between the two of them. (I've been listening to the Santa Cruz boot off DAD, which I highly, highly recommend.) It has such a mellow vibe, I keep thinking there's no need to smoke pot, just put that song on.
And I just have to mention Ben's little display when Tom L forgot to introduce him. LOL. I've never seen him so animated. That triple turn at the end really cracked me up. I expected him to dance a jig before it was all over. But I think he did it to take the pressure off Tom and give him a little time to regroup. What a thoughtful and kind thing for a long time professional to do for someone that hasn't been performing to huge crowds for the past 30+ years. I just love Ben!
I can't say enough about this band and their music. Man, I'm completely in heaven with this! I wish I were going to another show. All you still waiting for yours are going to LOVE it!

One little tidbit about the show - I drove by the Arlington on Saturday morning and the front marquee said "MUDCRUTCH" in the middle and in the lower left corner "with Tom Petty". I told my wife "Tom is going to be soooo pissed when he sees that. I'll bet it's gone tonight". And .... it was!!

Rad pics everyone! This was an AMAZING concert! I have grown up with Tom Petty, and always loved the Mudcrutch tracks that came with the Playback set! Once I saw that they were playing some shows I made sure to get my mom and I a ticket at the closest venue they were playing! It could not have been a better night!
^ Great! Welcome to the Farm, Matthew!
