Hey everyone, I'm exhausted, but had to post a few comments about this awesome show before I go to bed. :003::003::003:
Tom Leadon is WONDERFUL; it was as though they've been playing together for years.
Setlist was similar to Malibu; I'm not quite sure of all the titles, but it seems pretty close. They did not do "I Can't Fight It," but the encore included great covers of "Summertime Blues" and "Rainy Day Women"; the latter sounded like a different arrangement than the TPATH version.
"Crystal River" is Mudcrutch's counterpart to "It's Good to Be King," lol.I can assure everyone that you will NOT be disappointed when your turn comes later on!

Here's a nice little review (http://kavasradiosoup.blogspot.com/) of the show. There are also two youtube clips. The picture quality isn't that great but the sound is pretty good.

Sounds like a good show, I wonder how Rainy Day Woman #12 & 35 sounds like compared to when the Heartbreakers did it

Nice review! Thanks... All of the clips I've seen have been blurry....lol
Sweet! Love how they changed the covers up this time. I always enjoy a Dylan song or two. It sounds like the shows have been a real treat so far. Counting the days until the Troubadour!

OK everyone, that thumping sound you heard all night was me, slapping myself upside the head for not getting tickets to the Fillmore shows. :p
I wasn't quite sure what time to get there, and Lisa (Babydoll) was kind enough to keep me posted on the status of the line since she was already downtown. After transporting my kids after school, I got there at around 4:00, and there were approximately 25 people in line ahead of me. I ended up in row 1-1/2, lol; Lisa was on the rail and I was directly behind her. Mike was right in front of us. FYI for stage position: Mike is on his usual side but a little bit closer to center stage, Tom is a bit to the right of center, and Tom Leadon is all the way to the right. There was no opening act.
I wasn't really sure what to expect with the band being 3/5 Heartbreakers...was it going to be the TPATH stars with the new guys thrown in for good measure? ABSOLUTELY NOT! I was so impressed by the way the band had a stage presence of their very own, and also how it seemed that Tom Leadon had been playing with them for years. He told several Mudcrutch stories; because Tom usually does all the talking at TPATH shows, it was very cool to hear from another band member.
It was such a kick to see Tom playing bass, and to see Benmont sing! It was obvious that they were having so much fun. I absolutely loved their version of "Summertime Blues," as well as the new Mudcrutch songs we haven't heard yet. As I posted earlier, "Crystal River" is definitely evocative of "It's Good to Be King," so plan your potty breaks accordingly. :icon_laugh:
It was great to see Lisa and her Pete, Gloria and her friend Shannon, and to finally meet our Pettyjunkie and her friend Sonita. There were also many others from the valley that I knew...who knew first-grade teachers could rock?!
Thank you, Mudcrutch, for a great night! :003:

Santa Cruz show was another amazing display of Mr Tom Petty and his cohorts talent and ability to mesmerize their fans with their quitars and vocals. Having just moved to SC, I felt this was an awesome welcome to what seems to be an exciting music scene in this town and it couldn't have started finer than with my favorite musicians for 35 years. Tired this morning but there's nothing better than a great live Petty show "hangover".

I managed to get a couple of photos, anyway. Security was almost directly in front of me, so that made it really difficult. Ignore Tom's pit stains, lol. :icon_laugh:

What a nice show we had in SC last night. It was refreshing to see Tom in such a relaxed atmosphere, as the night went on he would look down into the audience as he roamed the stage. Got a nice smile from him and Mike both. It was a lot of fun, Lisa, Toni, Stephanie, it was nice to hang out with you. I posted a few pics on the photo page.

As Toni said the band was very much different than the Heartbreakers, and Tom Leadon was awesome. When Leadon and Mike play together, it's FANTASTIC! I was standing behind Gloria and Shannon and in front of Mike. I was mesmerized by his guitar playing (I'm sure most of you have already watched him but this was my first).
I loved it when Benmont was done with his song he did a cute "phew" action of wiping his brow. He did a great job.
I was often watching Dana on the side of the stage. She was really into it too. And then Dylan was next during Rainy Day Women, and they were rockin' out together.
I'd have to agree with Toni on "Crystal River". Definitely a bathroom break. :045:
Overall it was an awesome show. It was great to finally meet some Farmers.

Just got home(and to a computer). Toni and the others did a great job with their reviews. If you like the 6 songs---you will absolutely LOVE the show! It was great to see Toni again and share it with other Farmers, too.
My highlights were "Wrong Thing to Do" (which was my favorite from the 6 songs anyway) but, right there up front, in person it was totally uncontrollably fantastic!!!!!!! Benmont's song and show of relief afterwards were priceless. "Topanga Cowgirl" and Mike's song(can't remember the title) were also incredible. I think Crystal River will be a fantastic album cut and I enjoyed last night because it was new.
I was also really impressed with Tom Leadon. It was fun to have him introduce TP and tell stories. And he's a really good guitar player.
Last night I was definitely in my "happy place":) And the glow remains..
