Unfortunately, for me it's as far away as California is. Probably as expensive too.

I did get that email this morning. It sure looks beautiful. Not that I was going anyway, but that on site camping thing would scare me away.

^ I'd have to agree with you about that. My idea of camping is staying in a hotel and visiting everyone else at their campsites.

Anybody who goes to this festival had better be careful. They have a strict root vegetable ban in place. That's right, you can't bring your own potatoes.
According to the site, "All patrons are subject to search". Down here in the US, you're searched for guns, knives, booze. Up in Canada, they search you for spuds.
And "planting of potatoes is restricted". So don't get drunk and try to plant any potatoes.
The festival site also bans blankets. What is a festival without potatoes and blankets?
I have a good friend up in Vancouver who emailed me about the festival and I thought I'd take a look. I saw they have a page about "No Root Veg on Site". It just tickled me.

^ LMAO! Does this mean I can't plant my turnips, either?? Sheesh, Lil!
What's a festival without potato and turnip planting??

That made me laugh so hard. What's up with that? Makes you wonder what happened at that festival in years past....

Lillian...:icon_laugh: I'd just die laughing if I saw a sign on the camp grounds warning you against bringing in these illegal potatoes and blankets.

Barb, I looked for clarification on the turnip issue and I just don't know what to tell you. You might just want to leave those turnips at home. One question though, why would you bring a turnip to a concert? I mean, where I'm from, it's potatoes or nothing. You SoCal people are just strange. Must be all that sun.

Hi all - I lived in Pemberton (ran a newspaper about 20 miles in Whistler) for five years, it's a great place. Be sure to visit the Pony Espresso for pizza and beer night on Thursdays - it's the best, and say hi to Mike if you make it there! The potato thing has a long explanation to it but I'll try to be quick. There are only a few disease-free places in the world to grow seed potatoes – Pemberton is one of them. As Pemberton relies on the little gems for part of its economy they are very protective and take it quite seriously. I know, they're potatoes! But those little seed potatoes leave that beautiful valley and go out to feed the world. I am really hoping to get back there for this concert as I can't imagine many more beautiful backdrops (Mt. Currie) to host this event.
Cheers. John
