Have you ever owned a radar detector for your car? Did you find it to be reliable? And, if you were to be pulled over for speeding, how much over the speed limit can we expect you to be going?

HAHA! When I drove down to L.A. with my friend Princess, she had a radar detector. I've never owned one myself. I found it to be pretty reliable. Whenever the numbers started going up on that sucker, sure enough there was a CHP in the area. I loved it.

I've been known to look down and find myself going anywhere from 15 to 30mph over the speed limit. Depending on where I'm doing the driving.

I've never owned one, but have wanted one for years. With all the CHP recruitment going on, I guess I better move on it. I try to keep it under 20 MPH over the speed limit. More than that it's wreckless driving and you can't go to traffic school.

I've never had a radar detector. Keeping an eye out works great for me. On the highways, I'm usually going 80-90.

I don't have a radar detector. Sometimes I speed -- maybe 10-20 over the limit. But people are always passing me....lol

I'm not much of a speed demon. I've never owned a radar detector and probably don't need one since I'm usually only going 5-10 over the speed limit. I've never gotten pulled over for speeding.

Yea I used to have one. Not sure if it really helped. I never got a ticket while using it though.

this is a great article on speeding: http://ehowa.com/mythoughts/nospeeding.shtml

^"Earni's House of Whoopass"??? LMAO!!

"III. What do to if you're a balloonhead and get a speeding ticket - loser. But not all is lost, as you can still minimize the damage."

LMAO!! I wonder if he has advice about ex-husbands...LOL I'd like to minimize that damage...

Seriously, I think it really depends on the cop and if they're getting pressure to generate a little revenue.

Never had one. I stay under 10 over and it works perfectly.

I used to have a radar detector. My ex was a pawn shop junkie and found a great deal. He already had a better one so put the other in my car. Thanks for the gift! I used it, back in the day, before the speed limit was raised on the highways. Now the speed limit is 65, 70 and 75 in wide open spaces. Frankly, I can't do more than 75 while talking on the cell phone, chewing gum, and filing my nails. I think New Mexico has some 80 limits in remote areas.

Never owned one. But a few years ago I got pulled over fairly regularly for speeding, not anymore though.

I don't have one, but my daughter's boyfriend does, if I ever need to borrow it, I can.

If I get caught, I think my ticket would be pretty substantial, lol. Like Sammy Hagar sings, I can't drive 55. :003:

And for you slow ass drivers, PLEASE stay in the right hand lane and out of MY way! HAHA!

I don't have one but I need one. I have gotten 2 speeding tickets since Feburary. One for going 65 in a 40 and 75 in a 60. Yaaa I know I am bad. I got pulled over last month for crossing the fog line. My daugther was handing me a doughnut. The cop asked how much I had to drink, I told him what happened he ignored me and made me watch his pen on the side of the road. I was so pissed. The dumb ass.

My ex-boyfriend John had one, and it was pretty reliable. I thought it was pretty fun and interesting, but wouldn't you look really bad if you got pulled over and had one??? So I've never had one! When I had my first car, a red/white 1974 Dodge Charger, I got pulled over a few times. I don't drive any slower, but haven't been pulled over in literally YEARS. No more 'arrest me red' cars for me. New Jersey's top speed where I live is 55-65, and I'm usually 20 over easily. Sometimes I top out at about 95. Not usually, though.
