Tom Petty stopped to smell the roses; to enjoy the art of nature. That’s what made the “trip” such a memorable experience for him – an “incredible journey through the country”, as he described it.

“It was the greatest trip of my life, really. It was this incredible journey through the country. I had never been west of the Mississippi. To suddenly see cactuses, we would pull the car over and get out and say, 'S*** -- look at this!' We were so naïve.”

“And we fell in love with L.A. within an hour of being there. We just thought this is heaven. We said, 'Look -- everywhere there's people making a living playing music. This is the place.'”

What in the hell is going on here?

The only person arguing these "obvious" points is Danny Roberts. So take it up with him, and please do so away from this forum.

This is a troll-free place. You may find other places that put up with it, but I won't let it spill over here. Everyone here decides the tone of the forum and that tone is friendly. If people don't like "friendly" then sorry. I definitely need to add some guidelines for this site. My apologies for not doing so sooner.

An Internet troll, or simply troll in Internet slang, is someone who posts controversial and usually irrelevant or off-topic messages in an online community, such as an online discussion forum, with the intention of baiting other users into an emotional response or to generally disrupt normal on-topic discussion.
