The Larkspur Café Theater presents "THE SUMMER OF LOVE COMEDY CONCERT", starring Grace White, "That Old Hippie Chick", and Doug Ferrari, also featuring Doug's "Rock Comedy Show" with guitarist "Rockin" Robert Weinstein.
The concert is Wednesday, September 19, 2007, at 8 pm, at the Larkspur Café Theater, 500 Magnolia Street, Larkspur. Tickets are $20 in advance or at the door.
This is going to be a very different and very entertaining show, a loving tribute to the 40th Anniversary of the Summer Of Love, but done with tongue-in-cheek comedy.
GRACE WHITE, aka That Old Hippie Chick, is a classic bohemian with a mother who stalks her, a father to whom road rage is an art-form, and a stand-up comedy act like no other. White launched her comedy career at the onset of her "Middle Ages," and has gone on to open for such musical acts as Jefferson Starship, Edgar Winter, Leon Russell, and Jethro Tull. Her television credits include appearances on "Good Morning America" and the "Jerry Lewis Muscular Dystrophy Telethon". She made her film debut in "The Independent," starring Jerry Stiller and Janeane Garofalo, and she's made thousands of fans laugh in Golden Gate Park from the stage of San Francisco's long-running annual "Comedy Day" celebration.
Grace has earned a solid reputation for herding aspiring comedians through their performing puberty. White's all female comedy tour, Women Who Kick Comedy Butt, has toured nationally and is now making plans to take over the planet. That Old Hippie Chick may not be the last of her tribe, but she is surely one of the most entertaining.
DOUG FERRARI Since winning the 1984 San Francisco International Stand-Up Comedy Competition, Doug has played 41 states and 5 countries, done 25 TV Shows including Comedy Central, MTV, and Showtime, written for many comedians such as Rodney Dangerfield and Jay Leno, and worked with all the rock and roll greats such as Santana, Neil Young, Crosby Stills & Young, Steve Miller Band, and everyone from Ray Charles to Sun Ra. He hosted many Bay Area Music Awards, Bill Graham's "Spirit Of America" concert in Golden Gate Park, hosted the Earthquake Benefit at the Cow Palace in 1989 with Bob Hope, and does his stand-up shows and concerts all over the Bay Area, as well as his "Rock Comedy Show" , Doug Ferrari: Mock Star.
Doug didn't get to be a hippie until 1972 (the 60's didn't officially end until 1974), but he did the best he could, and his show running order covers all the big 60's subjects: sex, drugs, rock and roll, politics, and religion.
Doug's "Rock Comedy Show" features tributes, satires and parodies of all the 60's anthems, from Led Zeppelin to Simon & Garfunkel, The Who, Pink Floyd, Jimi Hendrix, and even Mel Brooks, in his performance of "Love Power" from the original movie "The Producers". This show has been a hit at all the comedy clubs, and in concert at the Throckmorton Theater twice, and at "Mark Pitta & Friends at the Throckmorton. Doug made a CD of his stand-up and rock comedy, called "The Best Of His NSA Wiretaps", recorded live in Marin.
