I don't know how much of it is nature or environment. I think people are happier when they are true to themselves.

I bet most of the 33% were men. My friend's husband has said to her "I want a thin wife."

I wouldn't leave my partner but, I would worry a lot about his health. A hundred pounds would shorten a person's life significantly -- maybe 10-20 years. It contributes to so many health problems -- heart disease, diabetes, etc. If I loved the person, I'd help him get healthy.

This question is more complicated than it seems on the surface. Unless it was caused by a medical condition, gaining that much weight would probably signal a deeper psychological or emotional issue that could certainly test the marriage I would think.

I think that's shallow. I might be worried sick about them, depending on the reason for the weight gain, or really, just because of the weight gain, but I wouldn't leave them. I have a very good friend who's far more overweight than that, and I worry about her alot. She got down thinner than I am for over a year, but her mom's been sick and she's put more than half the weight back on, so far. It's also not the first time she's yo-yo'd. I seriously wonder how long her heart can hold out.

I've seen some beauts in my day, and so I've learned to work through my own problems, relationship- or otherwise!
