A free concert in Golden Gate Park celebrating the 40th anniversary of the Summer of Love takes place Sunday at Speedway Meadow, featuring dozens of veterans of the era.
Sentimental reunions by the Charlatans and Moby Grape will highlight the daylong event, which also features performances by Taj Mahal, Country Joe McDonald, Lydia Pense and Cold Blood, Dan Hicks and the Hot Licks, Barry "The Fish" Melton, New Riders of the Purple Sage, and Michael McClure with Ray Manzarek of the Doors, among many others.
Special guests who cannot be advertised because of other performances in the area will also appear.
Among the guest master of ceremonies will be Wavy Gravy, Woodstock festival producer Artie Kornfeld and poet Lenore Kandel of "The Love Book."
