Recovering drug addict Nikki Sixx has accepted an invitation to speak at the 18th annual National Alcohol And Drug Addiction Recovery Month luncheon on Capitol Hill in Washington, D.C. on September 6.

The Motley Crue star will become the first member of the rock world to share his story of surviving addiction at such an event, according to website Blabbermouth.net.

Sixx was invited to speak by NAADAC, the association for addiction professionals.

Right on.... I didn't know there was National Alcohol And Drug Addiction Recovery Month. I've heard a lot of stories; the best ones end with..."that was a long time ago; I don't know how I could have done that to myself." So many people are lost to this....

Very cool. I was just reading that he wrote a book due out this month about his battle with addiction. I thought it was neat that he's also releasing a soundtrack to the book. Each chapter has a song to accompany it. He's donating some of the proceeds to a charity that helps at risk kids through music.
