The Station Agent (2003) on the IFC channel (Independent Film Channel)

WHAT A GEM! I just live to be able to discover these wonderful unknown films. Unbelievably moving. A real beauty.

A film about loneliness...

When his only friend and co-worker dies, a young man born with dwarfism moves to an abandoned train depot in rural New Jersey. Though he tries to maintain a life of solitude, he is soon entangled with an artist who is struggling with a personal tragedy and an overly friendly Cuban hot-dog vendor.

Well, I watched a set of Ginger Rogers & Fred Astaire films on New Year's Eve......I LOVE their films! But, the last movie I saw in a theater was Sweeney Todd. I don't usually like bloody films, but this one I did like.

The Last King of Scotland -- excellent. I highly recommend it.

Tried to see Walk Hard over the weekend but we decided to leave and get our money back before the movie even started. A group of obnoxious teenagers came in the theater and we didn't want to deal with it through the entire movie. They were cussing and making racist remarks about the pre-show commercials. We reported them to the manager (who gave them a warning only), got our $$, and left. :(

Once - an independant film set in Dublin about two aspiring musicians. Filled with GERAT music, highly recommended to all you farmers. It dragged a bit, but the soundtrack was amazing.

La Vie en Rose - a french film about the life of Parisian singer Edith Piaf. Reading subtitles gets old, but the acting was superb. Loved the music! I'm a sucker for foreign films ;)

Hairspray - the musical. Not nearly as funny as the original. And I was distracted by John Travolta...he seemed to be doing a sort of bad Mike Myers/Austin Powers type of accent!
