I got an email from Soundstage (http://www.pbs.org/wttw/soundstage/index.htm)today announcing the "new" season. TPATH is definitely on -- Tom Petty & The Heartbreakers (January 10 & 17) - "Live from Gatorville" -- two-part episode marking the band's first hometown show in 13 years. Other guests this year will be Lifehouse, Daughtry, and John Fogerty

well, i checked it out and they weren't on my 2 pbs stations for part 1. and who cares anyway, we have the dvd uninterupted by pleas to raise money. i don't have to wait til the 10th or 17th. and neither do you, we have the dvd. besides that, alot of us were there live to see this show. and what is better than that?

I hear ya! I have the DVD, too.

My heart feels for those who don't have the DVD or maybe aren't aware it exists. I remember back in the old days - when you didn't have the internet to instantaneously connect you into the world. Soundstage, and other shows like it, were lifelines of information and great music. Somebody (and probably a lot of somebody's) are gonna be delighted this show is on.

I do not understand why Soundstage is saying there are two parts, but my PBS station is only showing Part 2. Maybe I'll watch Part 1 before the show comes on - lol!

I stumbled on it this morning and the description said Part 1 but it was the last half of the concert. Oh, well.

I don't have Sound Stage. I take it is good?

I think they split up the concert into two parts, but the order of the songs is split, too. Just like they did for the original Soundstage in Chicago. It's like watching a shorter, whole concert with each part. Part One is this week and Part Two is next week.

I just realized I missed the Atlanta PBS station's broadcast and coulda kicked myself into next week. Hopefully it'll be back on down south on the 17th then too.
But I hope it won't be Pledge Week, where those folks talk and yammer ENDlessly every 15 minutes. :101:

pettyjunkie, yes soundstage is good...it's live performances recorded for public broadcasting. Some musicians: Tori Amos, John Hiatt, Chris Isaak, Alison Krauss & Union Station, Michael McDonald, Wilco, Sonic Youth, John Mayer, Heart, Martina McBride, etc.

Part One was on one of my local stations late Saturday night. It was all I could do to stay awake and watch. I compared what I know I heard (**) to the DVD; I think they broke the DVD into two parts:

Part One:
Listen to her heart
Mary jane's last dance
i won't back down
free fallin'
saving grace**
i'm a man**
oh well**
handle with care**
stop draggin' my heart around (with stevie)**
i need to know (with stevie)**

Part Two
it's good to be king
down south
southern accents
insider (with stevie)
learning to fly
don't come around here no more
runnin' down a dream
you wreck me
mystic eyes
american girl

The Gainesville show is in the limited edition "Running Down A Dream" DVD pack.

Soundstage from Chicago is brilliant! Totally worth the money. It's a beautifully shot show. I love the Gainesville show but the Chicago one is a better production. Get both!

^ I agree Marion. Soundstage Chicago was a better production. I watched Part I of Gainesville on PBS the other night not realizing it was the same DVD we all have. I can be such a nitwit sometimes. It was still good to watch though.

A teacher came up to me this morning to tell me she'd caught that show and she was in total awe of Tom. She said she had NO idea he and the band were so fantastic, I think TPATH have a new fan :)

From what I am reading, the PBS shows are the same as the DVD I already have? My PBS station has changed all the good programming to a HDTV channel that will not be available on my cable system until the first of February.
