An incensed Oprah Winfrey (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20465878/#) shouted her indignation to the world when prevented from entering a closed Hermès store in 2005. But she may have no compunction booting a bridal party from a booked hotel if she needs the rooms for her famous friends.
The talk-show host and Barack Obama supporter is planning a Sept. 8 fundraiser for her favorite candidate at her Santa Barbara-adjacent estate. Unfortunately, the nearby San Ysidro Ranch (http://www.msnbc.msn.com/id/20465878/#), where Oprah wants her guests to stay, is totally booked by a wedding party, The New York Post’s Page Six reports.
"Due to the proximity to and the cachet of the ranch to Oprah Winfrey's estate, Oprah's people have been calling the bride to either move or vacate some of the rooms to accommodate her guest list," a source told Page Six. "The bride, an attorney, is not budging."
According to Page Six, Oprah’s representatives claim that no such calls were made. Yet, some vacancies magically appeared. San Ysidro Ranch Manager Marco Perry told Page Six, “The wedding party did cancel a few rooms — but we didn't charge them a cancellation fee because there was such a demand for the rooms that weekend."
No word on why Oprah’s Obama attendees can’t stay at her $64 million estate. Maybe she’s afraid they won’t use coasters.
