Hard to see but there are two white pillar candles in each of those small windows. Yoko always burns them on this day....

One of the beautiful urns in front of the entrance....

The mosaic. I brought another green apple...gave it to the man in charge here. He placed it by the others. I said a prayer for John...and also Warren Zevon....I knew this night there was that Tribute to him....

Beth, thank you for sharing. It's great they still do a tribute to John after all these years.

Great pictures, Beth.
It's kind of eerie seeing the spot where John was killed... gives me chills.
The Dakota is such a beautiful building.
I have a question though.. and I am really being serious.. I am just curious.
The man who takes care of the flowers and things that people leave on the mosaic... who is he? I am really just curious. I think it's wonderful he does this... but who is he? Is he there everyday? Was he appointed by someone? Has he been doing this all this time? I'd love to talk to that guy... this kind of stuff fascinates me.

Thanks, everyone for looking at these photos.

Patty, I have thought about that, too. I have been up another time than John's Birthday or this day. That man is always there. He arranges the flowers so beautifully....like taking orchids and putting them in the center like a peace sign. I did get to talk with him a little when I went up to the NYFF for TPATH's film. It was dark and my friend was not sure of the place. But I was so close I wanted to bring something. I brought a green apple that my sister and I signed. Not many people around and I did not see the man at first. So I placed the apple inside the mosaic. Then he seemed to come out of the darkness....He put out his hand and said it was a pleasure to meet me and that I should put the dot the I of the Imagine with my apple....I did.

I wanted to talk with him Saturday but it was just too crowded....I will surely let you know when I do....

Oh Beth, now that kind of gave me the heebie-jeebies, the way you describe him just coming out of the darkness. Now I'm really curious too, who is this guy?

Thanks Beth. Yes, it would be very interesting to talk to this guy.
Too weird... he came out of the darkness. Who IS this Strawberry Fields Mystery Man? Hahahaha!
Now you have a new mission Beth! Find out all you can about this guy, k? Thanks! :003:
