MySpace has begun selling exclusive "unplugged" music performances via a new service dubbed Transmissions.

The platform features videos of artist interviews and performances in the MySpace studios, which the social network has the exclusive rights to stream, as well as a sales widget that allows fans to buy the tracks.

The program launches with James Blunt, who recorded five songs for the site. The sales are powered by the same Lala widget used to sell his Atlantic album, "All the Lost Souls," when it debuted in September.

MySpace execs say other artists will be featured over time, and all Transmission content will be archived for on-demand viewing.

MySpace members can add any of the content to their MySpace profiles, both audio and video, and share it with others within the network.
