Veteran prog-rockers The Moody Blues (http://www.livedaily.com/artists/806.html) continue to stay busy on the road in 2008, with the band lining up dates for a two-month US tour next spring.

The English band--which boasts a trio of longtime core members in Justin Hayward (vocals/guitar), John Lodge (bass/vocals) and Graeme Edge (drums)--kicks things off with back-to-back shows March 4-5 in San Francisco. The 28-city outing runs through late April. Dates are listed below.

The group recently announced that one of its most famous songs would provide the soundtrack and inspiration for a ride being built at Myrtle Beach, SC's under-construction Hard Rock Park theme park

Dubbed "Nights in White Satin--The Trip," the ride at the unfinished 55-acre Hard Rock Park--based on the band's smash 1967 hit song--will feature a "mind-bending journey choreographed to a special version of the quintessential symphonic rock masterpiece," according to a press release.

The band's most recent release, April's "Live at the BBC 1967-1970," chronicles the group's trips to the BBC's studios in the late '60s, with 41 tracks on two CDs. The set, which features mainly unreleased material, also includes audio tracks from the band's various appearances on British television around the same time, including a "lost" performance from the BBC's "This is Tom Jones Show."

During their more than 40-year history, The Moody Blues have had 18 platinum records and sold more than 55 million albums, according to the band's website (http://www.moodyblues.co.uk/).

Old thread, I know, but I just got a ticket to see their show at the Hershey Theater. Excellent seats just opened up, including front row! Actually, I took 3rd row center, on the aisle, figuring the view and sound should be about excellent from there. I've never been to the Hershey Theater but I'm looking forward to it -- and older theater that's been restored, I believe... :)

i've seen them a few times and they are great. i'll go see them again, but after ray thomas retired, it was never the same. something was missing and the band replaced him with 2 girls, they both sang back-up and 1 played a violin and the other played a flute like ray did. they were both good, but something was missing. and later i heard that the girl that sang and played flute was justins daughter! i can't confirm that, you'll have to ask justin....lol. the guy that gets the crowd rocking is the bassist, john lodge. he moves around, smiles and even goes to the edge of the stage to bend over and make the girls happy (beth), sorry, i couldn't resist that since you saw him. whether it's the moody blues, stones, tpath or even that band marion mentioned (lol, sorry honey), go see them. you may be pleasantly surprised. it won't be the 60's, but you have a place to start and wish!

Enjoy your show, guitarstudent. I'd love to hear a review afterwards.

I'm looking forward to seeing them at Royal Albert Hall in October. I'm thinking it will be a great concert because the sound is so wonderful there.
