i tried to buy this applause acoustic/electric uke in red while in KC. i offered $50, but they wouldn't go below $90. so i didn't buy it. i ended up buying a black "rogue' mando instead for $50. i'll try to get a pix of that for you too. i still might go back and buy this.

btw, if you have your own little space or even a living room, consider this as an alternative to expensive paintings or pictures on your walls. buy these small inexpensive ukes, mando's, bango's, lap steel guitars, dulcimer's, 32 key melodica's and much more to hang on your walls. cheap ones or even blems are great for that and cost between $25 and $100.

a bunch of us went to cali and stayed at the magic castle for a weekend to see the DK's play at the viper room and the imperial ballroom. anna and myself brought tele pickguards to the DK's show at the imperial ballroom to get them autographed. anna's is signed by the whole band, mine is signed by mike campbell..

Hey Nurk,
What do those dusenburg's go for ? They look like a take on a ric...do they play good ? sound ? Where are they made ?
I have a Fender rosewood too. Is that one of those new Hofners ? That Taylor is so neat looking. Love your collection. You ever go to any guitar collecting shows ? Detroit just had one sunday but i was unable to attend for financial reasons !

tim, the 12 string doozy does look a bit like a ric with a catseye soundhole and all. ryan bought the mike campbell blue signature model and i think they cost about $2500. from what i've heard from tpath and knobs shows, they sound damn good, but then again with the bank of pedals and the talent of mike campbell, a cardboard box with a rubber band on it would sound good. here are 2 pix of the 6 string mike campbell model. nxt post will be with mike playing the double cat 12 string.

How does that Epi play ? I've seen them in print, but never in person. They look so cool....i've always wanted a gibson J-160E.......so many great groups used them in the sixties......but I guess we wouldn't be going crazy if it was the Gordon Waller model ! lol

tim, the epi sounds really good, just like the gibsons john and george played. a really nice brassy sound like the beatles got around the 'help' album time. i like the way the pickup is mounted right at the bottom of the neck instead of over the soundhole, it really makes a difference. i even bought a set of brass strings when the originals go bad for more of that brassy beatle sound of their acoustics back in the mid 60's.

I am probably a bit biased by being a fan, but it is an amazing guitar.
Some thoughts:
- It has a great weight distribution.
- The fretboard maintains its radius pretty much through the entire length with very little tapering. Feels substantial but not overly thick like some Gibsons do. There is great clearance all the way up to the higher frets.
- The tremolo system is mucho smooth and probably one of the best I have used.
- The pickup setup is how I like them to be.. humbucker at the bridge and a single-coil at lead. (although I am not sure on the specifics of the Duesenberg-DP90.) Pretty versatile, but of course your amp & pedal setup is obviously the other half of the puzzle.
- Overall fit and finish is amazing for the price. I couldn't be happier. If I could have just ONE item the band has put out this would be it.

that's great ryan, i'm so glad you like it. i'll have to go back and check on the doozy DP90's. i know i read about them, but i forget right now about the windings and all. and you ARE right, the amp and pedals mean so much more. without them, i think all our guitars would pretty much sound the same. you need that stuff to find "your sound".

Hey NUrk, I thought you might like to know this. There's a place on Ebay called fantasy guitars and they make minature guitars that the beatles and other stars used ! I found them while searching for Beatle models (the kind you build) anyway they have a neat selection of John's accoustic and casino, george's rocky, country gent, duo jet, rosewood tele, tenn, and Paul's hofner so far. Priced around 15 to 19.00 each ! Since I collect their guitars in real size, it might be cool to have these on a shelf since they look like my "real" collection !
check em out...think i'm gonna start collecting ! lol

hang in there tim, i'm sure you'll find a ric 12 string. just remember 1 thing, different models DO have a different sound and it's just not solid body (tom petty) to semi-hollow body (george and roger). the 2 pickup harrison has the toaster pickups farther apart than the 2 pickup mcguinn 360, causing a brighter sound. roger's original 360 had the toasters closer together and gives it a warmer, mellower sound. roger now uses a ric 370/12 with 3 pickups, because he thought john lennon's 325 looked so cool with 3 pickups. if you get a chance to talk to roger, he'll tell you that he has the neck and middle pickups turned off, he only uses the bridge pickup for a brighter sound. which only makes me think, why not just buy the harrison model. well i guess he bought his 1st ric the day after he saw the movie "a hard days night" and the blonde ric 360/12 was all that store had. anyway, listen to each model you play before you buy, and do listen to all the models, then make your choice. if you need any help, i'm always here.

Hey Nurk,
I do have a ric 12 V64 like george's from about 1990 ( i bought it like new in 91 ) and also a epi riveria like my other fave ,Carl Wilson, sunburst. its a 1968 and I got that in 1992. I traded a solid body ric 12 string that was black with the cresting wave shape, and a $100 fo it. I got from cowtown music when they were in columbus, oh. ( I didn't know to recently that the guy is Bob Segar's gtr plyr ).
Thanks for the info about Roger's gtr. You ever see a M I Japan Fender 12 re issue ? I've only seen them briefly back in the '90's.

tim, i can't remember every date i bought a ric, but i have 7 of them and the 1st was bought was late '66. it was a lennon 325 in fireglo with an F hole. i still have it. according to ric, they were going to make 44 fireglo's that year, but stopped at #40 and i think i know why. they ran out of toaster pickups!!! my guitar is # 40, the last made and it only has 2 pickups instead of 3, but they still call it a model 325. john used this fireglo as a practice guitar, but actually had to use it onstage a couple times til his jetglo model was being repaired. i've seen alot of sites that have the fireglo for 15K and up!!!! i just don't trust any of them. i bought this and all my ric's new, so i'm comfortable about that.
